Job Description

Candidates must be certified in, or eligible for certification in Health and Physical Education (P-12). Bibb County is a Strategic Waiver District. Alternative Certification routes are available to individuals with a degree from an accredited institution.

Job Summary

This position plans and provides appropriate learning experiences for students and creates an atmosphere conducive to the intellectual, physical, social and emotional development of individuals to ensure achievement and performance for every child.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Essential Job Functions Teaching Tasks

Virtual Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders in the Virtual Platform in written and oral form, including electronic media, using positive interpersonal skills
  • Uses a variety of programs and software applications, as appropriate, to complete instructional and administrative tasks
  • Participates in professional learning to enhance online instruction, including required professional learning leading to virtual teaching endorsement
  • Clearly articulates deadlines, schedules, and procedures to students and parents to ensure that students complete coursework in a timely manner
Teacher Duties and Responsibilities
  • Follows professional practices consistent with school and district policies in working with students, students’ records, parents, and colleagues
  • Interacts in a professional manner with students and parents
  • Is available to students and parents for conferences according to district policies
  • Facilitates home‑school communication by such means as holding conferences, telephoning, and sending written communications
  • Maintains confidentiality of students and students’ records
  • Works cooperatively with school administrators, special support personnel, colleagues, and parents
  • Complies with school, district, and state administrative regulations and Board of Education policies
  • Conducts assigned classes at the times scheduled
  • Enforces regulations concerning student conduct and discipline
  • Is punctual
  • Provides adequate information, plans, and materials for substitute teacher
  • Maintains accurate, complete and appropriate records and files reports promptly
  • Attends and participates in faculty meetings and other assigned meetings and activities according to school policy
  • Complies with conditions as stated in the Contract of Employment
  • Demonstrates professional practices in teaching
    • Models correct use of language, oral and written
    • Demonstrates accurate and up‑to‑date knowledge of content
    • Implements designated curriculum
    • Maintains lesson plans as required by school policy
    • Assigns reasonable tasks and homework to students
  • Acts in a professional manner and assumes responsibility for the total school program, its safety and good order
    • Takes precautions to protect records, equipment, materials, and facilities
    • Assumes responsibility for supervising students in out‑of‑class settings
  • Other Duties
    • Performs other duties as required based on the specific content area taught (such as content‑area competitions, after‑hours activities, etc.)
    • Plans and coordinates purposeful assignments for paraprofessionals, other supporting staff, and volunteers, and provides input to the administrative staff on the performance of these individuals.
    • Performs other duties as required by the District, the school, or student need.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in education from an accredited college or university required.
