Job Description

Candidates must be certified in or eligible for certification in Early Childhood Education (K-5). Bibb County is a Strategic Waiver District. Alternative certification routes are available to individuals with a degree from an accredited institution.

Job Summary

This position plans and provides appropriate learning experiences for students and fosters an environment for intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development to ensure achievement for every child.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Essential Job Functions

Teaching Tasks

  • Provides instruction:
    • Teaches at an appropriate instructional level

Virtual Duties and Responsibilities

  • Communicates effectively with all stakeholders in the virtual platform in written and oral form, including electronic media, using positive interpersonal skills.
  • Uses a variety of programs and software applications to complete instructional and administrative tasks.
  • Participates in professional learning to enhance online instruction, including required professional learning leading to virtual teaching endorsement.
  • Clearly articulates deadlines, schedules, and procedures to students and parents to ensure coursework completion.

Teacher Duties and Responsibilities

  • Follows professional practices consistent with school and district policies working with students, student records, parents, and colleagues.
  • Interacts professionally with students and parents.
  • Is available for conferences according to district policies.
  • Facilitates home‑school communication through conferences, telephoning, and written communications.
  • Maintains confidentiality of student records.
  • Works cooperatively with administrators, special support personnel, colleagues, and parents.
  • Complies with school, district, and state administrative regulations and Board of Education policies.
  • Conducts assigned classes on scheduled times.
  • Enforces regulations concerning student conduct and discipline.
  • Is punctual.
  • Provides adequate information, plans, and materials for substitute teacher.
  • Maintains accurate records and files reports promptly.
  • Attends faculty meetings and other assigned meetings per school policy.
  • Complies with conditions stated in the contract of employment.
  • Demonstrates professional practices in teaching.
  • Models correct use of language.
  • Shows accurate and up‑to‑date knowledge of content.
  • Implements designated curriculum.
  • Maintains lesson plans as required.
  • Assigns reasonable tasks and homework.
  • Acts professionally and assumes responsibility for the school program, safety, and good order.
  • Takes precautions to protect records, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Supervises students in out‑of‑class settings.
  • Plans and coordinates purposeful assignments for paraprofessionals, supporting staff, volunteers, and provides input on performance.
  • Performs other duties as required by the district, school, or student need.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in education from an accredited college or university required.

  • Knowledge of student growth and development.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting documents related to safety, technology, and educational procedures.
  • Ability to prepare and communicate effectively through written reports, lesson plans, and correspondence.
