Student Leadership Programs Specialist (Cochran Campus) – MGA Cochran – Regular full‑time – Job
Responsibilities- Assist in the development and facilitation of cutting‑edge, engaging trainings, and programs that contribute to the holistic leadership development of students.
- Facilitate/implement competency‑based leadership education initiatives including cohort‑based leadership development, first‑year and emerging leadership education, mentoring, and leadership institutes/conferences.
- Plan and implement the annual Leadership Programs Corporate Trip.
- Coordinate the planning and execution of the End‑of‑Year Celebration for both the Macon and Cochran campuses.
- Assist in the planning and implementation of the Student Leadership Conference, and the Student Leadership Challenge, including but not limited to managing room reservations, catering, and operational supplies inventories.
- Coordinate service learning/volunteering opportunities for participants on the designated campus.
- Lead the recruitment and development of program participants and mentors for the designated campuses.
- Collaborate with Residential Life and other departments in Student Affairs to support leadership programming opportunities for student leaders.
- Provide advisement and coaching to students in Knights LEAD and Emerging Leaders on designated campuses.
- Articulate the vision and services provided by the Center for Career and Leadership Development.
- Provide leadership advising to student leadership program participants on designated campuses.
- Promote and encourage leadership program students to engage in days of service/community service, career development, and internship opportunities to enhance their leadership development.
- Attend iLead meetings and assist in coaching iLEAD Peer Educators, including assisting them in the planning process for the Annual RSO Leadership Training Workshop.
- Serve as a Campus Security Authority (CSA).
- Maintain, monitor, and update Leadership Program webpages and social media accounts.
- Prepare emails, presentations, and other communication pieces to promote the programs to students and other stakeholders.
- Represent and promote programs at orientations, open houses, and other university events.
- Implement assessment plans for student leadership programs each year.
- Assist with the consistent reporting, tracking, and evaluation of all student leadership programs.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director for Career and Leadership Development and/or Student Leadership Programs Manager.
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in education, event management, or another field related to the delivery of services to college‑age student populations. - Must be able to work flexible hours when necessary.
- One (1) year full‑time experience or significant part‑time experience working in residence life, student activities, or in other high‑student contact areas of higher education or high school with a commitment to the educational development and success of students.
- Education:
Master’s degree in education, higher education, event management, or another field related to the delivery of services to traditional student populations. - Experience advising or coaching student organizations and groups; experience supervising/coaching/evaluating student and/or staff members; experience in assessment/evaluation and working with campus/community partners.
- Knowledge of student development, leadership development, and service‑learning theory, and their application to professional practice in higher education/student affairs.
- Knowledge of Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education (CAS) and implementing guidelines.
- Knowledge of effective assessment strategies to inform programs and practices.
- Skills in program delivery to the student body.
