Certification: High School Mathematics preferred;
Bibb County is a Strategic Waiver District. Alternative certification routes are available for candidates with a degree from an accredited institution.

JOB SUMMARY: This position plans and provides appropriate learning experiences for students and creates an environment conducive to intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development to ensure achievement for every child.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS: No supervisory responsibilities.

Essential Job Functions
  • Teaching Tasks
    • Provides Instruction – teaches at an appropriate instructional level, develops content, and builds for transfer.
    • Assesses and Encourages Student Progress – promotes engagement, monitors progress, responds to progress, and supports students.
    • Manages the Learning Environment – uses time efficiently, maintains effective physical setting, and oversees appropriate student behavior.
  • Virtual Duties and Responsibilities
    • Communicates effectively with stakeholders in the virtual platform in written and oral form.
    • Uses a variety of programs and software applications to complete instructional and administrative tasks.
    • Participates in professional learning to enhance online instruction.
    • Clearly articulates deadlines, schedules, and procedures to ensure timely completion of coursework.
  • Teacher Duties and Responsibilities
    • Follows professional practices consistent with school and district policies regarding students, records, parents, and colleagues.
    • Interacts professionally with students and parents, is available for conferences, facilitates home‑school communication, and maintains confidentiality of records.
    • Works cooperatively with administrators, support personnel, colleagues, and parents.
    • Complies with administrative regulations and Board of Education policies, conducts scheduled classes, enforces conduct regulations, maintains punctuality, provides substitute plans, and maintains accurate records.
    • Demonstrates professional teaching practices, models proper language, applies accurate content knowledge, implements curriculum, maintains lesson plans, and assigns reasonable tasks.
    • Acts professionally, ensures safety and order, protects records and materials, and supervises students outside of class.
  • Other Duties
    • Performs duties required by the specific content area taught, such as competitions and after‑hours activities.
    • Plans and coordinates assignments for paraprofessionals, other support staff, and volunteers, and provides input to administration regarding their performance.
    • Performs other duties as required by District, school, or student needs.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in education from an accredited college or university.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of student growth and development.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting documents on safety, technology, and educational procedures.
  • Ability to prepare and communicate effectively through written reports, lesson plans, and correspondence.
  • Skill in computing and interpreting data, including rate, ratio, and percent calculations.
  • Proficiency in PC operations and software applications (word processing, databases, spreadsheets).
  • Capability to serve as a liaison with professionals and collaborate with parents and guardians.
  • Capacity to adapt instructional strategies and provide accommodations for individual student needs.
  • Strong physical capability to manage classroom and student needs, including potential crisis interventions.
Certification, License, and

Special Requirements
  • Ability to obtain clearance certificate from GaPSC.
Salary/Terms/Benefits
  • 190‑day work year.
  • Salary based on certification and experience; placement on the Adopted Salary Schedule and position supplement(s).
