Job Summary

This position plans and provides appropriate learning experiences for students, creating an atmosphere conducive to intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development to ensure achievement for every child.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Teaching Tasks
  • Provides instruction at an appropriate instructional level.
  • Builds for transfer.
  • Assesses and encourages student progress.
  • Responds to adequate and inadequate student progress.
  • Supports students.
  • Manages the learning environment.
  • Uses time efficiently.
  • Maintains effective physical setting for instruction.
  • Maintains appropriate student behavior in the classroom.
Virtual Duties and Responsibilities
  • Communicates effectively with stakeholders in the virtual platform in written and oral form.
  • Uses appropriate programs and software applications to complete instructional and administrative tasks.
  • Participates in professional learning to enhance online instruction, including virtual teaching endorsement.
  • Clearly articulates deadlines, schedules, and procedures to students and parents.
Teacher Duties and Responsibilities
  • Follows professional practices consistent with school and district policies when working with students, students’ records, parents, and colleagues.
  • Interacts in a professional manner with students and parents.
  • Is available for conferences according to district policies.
  • Facilitates home‑school communication via conferences, telephone, and written communication.
  • Maintains confidentiality of students and records.
  • Works cooperatively with administrators, special support personnel, colleagues, and parents.
  • Complies with school, district, and state regulations and Board of Education policies.
  • Conducts assigned classes at scheduled times.
  • Enforces student conduct and discipline regulations.
  • Is punctual.
  • Provides adequate information, plans, and materials for substitute teacher.
  • Maintains accurate records and files reports promptly.
  • Attends and participates in faculty meetings and other assigned meetings.
  • Complies with conditions stated in the contract of employment.
  • Demonstrates professional teaching practices.
  • Model correct use of language, oral and written.
  • Maintains lesson plans as required by policy.
  • Assigns reasonable tasks and homework.
  • Assumes responsibility for supervising students in out‑of‑class settings.
Other Duties
  • Performs duties required based on specific content area taught, such as competitions or after‑hours activities.
  • Plans and coordinates assignments for paraprofessionals, support staff, and volunteers, providing input to administrators.
  • Performs other duties as required by the district, school, or student needs.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in education from an accredited college or university.

Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of student growth and development.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting documents related to safety, technology, and educational procedures.
  • Ability to prepare and communicate effectively in written reports, lesson plans, and correspondence.
  • Skill in computing and interpreting data, including rate, ratio, and percent calculations.
  • Proficiency in PC operations and software applications such as word processing, databases, and spreadsheets.
  • Capability to serve as a liaison with professionals and collaborate with parents and guardians.
  • Capacity to adapt instructional strategies and provide accommodations for individual student needs.
  • Strong physical capability to manage classroom and student needs, including potential crisis intervention.
Certification, License and

Special Requirements
  • Ability to obtain clearance certificate from GaPSC.
  • Valid GaPSC Certification in appropriate content area(s).
  • Possession or willingness to obtain Gifted Endorsement.
Salary, Terms and Benefits
  • 190-day work year.
  • Salary based on certification and experience; placement on the Adopted Salary Schedule and position supplement(s).
