Job Summary
The Hearing‑Impaired Special Education Teacher will provide direct instruction for students who have an IEP and receive services through the Program For Exceptional Children at the involved schools in the district.

- Participate in professional learning to enhance the ability to provide engaging online instruction; participate in required Professional Learning that leads to virtual teaching endorsement
- Clearly articulates deadlines, schedules, and procedures to students and parents to ensure that students complete coursework in a timely manner
- Follow professional practices consistent with school and district policies in working with students, students’ records, parents, and colleagues
- Interact in a professional manner with students and parents
- Be available to students and parents for conferences according to district policies
- Facilitate home‑school communication by holding conferences, telephoning, and sending written communications
- Maintain confidentiality of students and students’ records
- Work cooperatively with school administrators, special support personnel, colleagues, and parents
- Comply with school, district, and state administrative regulations and Board of Education policies
- Conduct annual reviews in accordance with established procedures
- Conduct assigned classes at scheduled times
- Enforce regulations concerning student conduct and discipline
- Be punctual
- Provide adequate information, plans, and materials for substitute teacher
- Maintain accurate, complete and appropriate records and file reports promptly
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings and other assigned meetings and activities according to school policy
- Comply with conditions as stated in the contract of employment
- Demonstrate professional practices in teaching
- Recommend changes in students’ placement when appropriate
- Work in cooperation with general education school personnel in the response to intervention process and in the diagnosis and placement of exceptional children
- Make personal contact with all general education teachers through consultation or co‑teaching instructional models to serve students with disabilities; provide these teachers with information that will help them accommodate or differentiate instruction for students
- Model correct use of language, oral and written
- Demonstrate accurate and up‑to‑date knowledge of content
- Implement designated curriculum
- Maintain lesson plans as required by school policy
- Assign reasonable tasks and homework to students
- Act in a professional manner and assume responsibility for the total school program, its safety and good order
- Takes precautions to protect records, equipment, materials, and facilities
- Assume responsibility for supervising students in out‑of‑class settings
- Perform other duties as required based on the specific content area taught (such as content‑area competitions, after‑hours activities, etc.)
- Plan and coordinate purposeful assignments for paraprofessional(s), other supporting staff, and volunteer(s), and provide input to the administrative staff on the performance of these individuals
