Job Summary

This is a 10‑month position with a teaching load of 12 to 15 semester hours per semester of undergraduate courses in areas including aircraft systems, crew resource management, flight operations, and FAR Part 141 ground school courses. Courses will be taught onsite at high schools in Clayton County as part of the institution’s dual enrollment initiatives. The primary students will be high school students enrolled in dual enrollment aviation programs.

Work will also include participation in research in a variety of aviation‑related subjects consistent with education and experience.

Responsibilities
  • Teach aviation undergraduate courses (15 credit hours per semester) in the Department of Aviation Science & Management
  • Instruct dual enrollment aviation courses at local high school sites in Clayton County
  • Advise and mentor aviation students on academic and career aspirations
  • Develop course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, tests, and lab projects
  • Construct training aids and mock‑ups
  • Evaluate student achievement and competence
  • Collaborate with faculty and industry advisory committee
  • Demonstrate willingness to learn and use D2L, the online teaching and learning platform
Required Educational Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Aviation required.

Required Experience

If Master’s or Doctorate Degree is not in Aviation, extensive experience in aviation along with a Master’s or Doctorate Degree will be required for this position.

Required Qualifications

Demonstrate ability to teach a broad array of aviation training courses.

Preferred Educational Qualifications

Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a doctoral degree in aviation.

Preferred Experience

Civilian aviation experience with a background in FAR Part 121 or 135 operations; industry experience in aviation; teaching experience in aviation.

Other

Preferred Qualifications

Possession of FAA Certificated Flight Instructor rating (CFI) and/or Ground Instructor certificates (AGI, IGI).
