Job Summary

Reporting directly to the Chief Flight Instructor, the Assistant Chief Flight Instructor provides leadership at the Eastman airport, performing duties of the Chief Instructor when required. This FAA‑approved position represents the school according to FAA standards, oversees stage checks and instructs senior students toward FAA certificates and ratings.

Responsibilities
  • Manages a team of flight instructors.
  • Coordinates safety‑meeting documents related to the department.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support campus operations.
  • Provides assistance to faculty, staff, and students.
  • Manages flight instructor work schedules.
  • Manages information on TSA website and tracks student accounts.
  • Manages student FAA records.
  • Manages and organizes all flight instructor files (FAA).
  • Manages and tracks flight schedules of instructors, students, and aircraft with stage check instructors.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university.
  • CFI and CFII certificates with current 2nd class medical.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Willingness and ability to work overtime and weekend shifts as required.
Required Experience

Minimum hours of experience as referenced in FAR 141.36 for all courses taught at the institution.

Preferred Qualifications
  • MEI certificate.
  • 1,000 hours PIC time.
  • Knowledge of university and school policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Banner/Swords, MyDegree, and Peoplesoft.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Knowledge of admission, registration and degree program requirements.
Preferred Experience
  • Minimum two years of instructing experience.
  • Experience with managing social media sites (e.g., Facebook and Instagram).
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of computer and job‑related software programs.
  • Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
  • Skill in decision‑making and problem solving.
  • Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public.
  • Skill in prioritizing and organizing workload.
  • Skill in using office equipment such as scanner, fax machine, and copier.
  • Attention to detail involving FAA regulations.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
