Job Description

Candidates must be certified in, or eligible for certification in Spanish (P-12). Bibb County is a Strategic Waiver District. Alternative Certification routes are available for individuals with a degree from an accredited institution.

Job Summary

This position plans and provides appropriate learning experiences for students and creates an atmosphere conducive to intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development, ensuring achievement and performance for every child.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Essential Job Functions
  • Teaching Tasks
    • Provides Instruction – teaches at an appropriate level, develops content, builds for transfer
    • Assesses and Encourages Student Progress – promotes engagement, monitors progress, responds to progress, supports students
    • Manages Learning Environment – uses time efficiently, maintains effective physical setting, ensures appropriate student behavior
  • Virtual Duties and Responsibilities
    • Communicate effectively with stakeholders in the virtual platform, using positive interpersonal skills
    • Use appropriate programs and software for instruction and administrative tasks
    • Participate in professional learning to provide engaging online instruction and achieve virtual teaching endorsement
    • Clearly articulate deadlines, schedules, and procedures to students and parents to ensure timely completion of coursework
  • Teacher Duties and Responsibilities
    • Follow professional practices consistent with school and district policies with students, records, parents, and colleagues
    • Interact professionally with students and parents; be available for conferences per district policy
    • Facilitate home-school communication via conferences, telephone, and written communications
    • Maintain confidentiality of student records
    • Cooperate with school administrators, special support personnel, colleagues, and parents
    • Comply with school, district, state regulations and Board of Education policies
    • Conduct assigned classes at scheduled times; enforce student conduct regulations; be punctual
    • Provide adequate material to substitute teacher; maintain accurate records; attend faculty meetings; comply with contract conditions
    • Demonstrate professional teaching practices: use correct language, keep content knowledge up-to-date, implement curriculum, maintain lesson plans, assign reasonable tasks
    • Assume responsibility for school program safety and order; protect records, equipment; supervise students out‑of‑class settings
  • Other Duties
    • Perform additional duties as required by the content area taught (competitions, after‑hours activities, etc.)
    • Coordinate assignments for paraprofessionals, support staff, volunteers; review performance
    • Perform duties required by district or student needs
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's degree in education from an accredited college or university required.

Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of student growth and development
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting safety, technology, educational procedure documents
  • Ability to prepare and communicate effectively via written reports, lesson plans, correspondence
  • Skill in computing and interpreting data (rate, ratio, percent calculations)
  • Proficiency in PC operations and software applications, including word processing, databases, spreadsheets
  • Capability to liaise with professionals and collaborate with parents/guardians
  • Capacity to adapt instruction and provide accommodations for individual students
  • Physical capability to manage classroom and student needs, including crisis intervention situations
