School Psychologist

Bibb County Public Schools – Student Support Services, Macon, Georgia. The Bibb County School District is accepting applications for a School Psychologist.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Administers standardized and/or supplemental assessments for the purpose of measuring the intellectual, adaptive, academic, social and emotional development of children and/or determining eligibility for services in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Assesses students’ functional capabilities and home and/or classroom environments to determine functional level and develop recommendations and/or placement.
  • Assists other staff in developing and applying student monitoring systems and designing academic and behavioral intentions.
  • Assists all specialists (e.g., autism consultants, behavior specialists, occupational and physical therapists, speech language pathologists, etc.) in creating and delivering student supports.
  • Compiles information from a variety of sources (e.g., administrators, teachers, nurses, parents, mental health agencies, other professionals) for producing a comprehensive screening/ evaluation report in compliance with established guidelines.
  • Consults with teachers, parents, and/or other outside personnel or professionals to provide requested information, develop plans for services, and/or make recommendations.
  • Coordinates with school staff to implement school-wide program development and program evaluation (e.g., RTI, PBIS, Section 504) to ensure effective programs assisting children who experience physical, mental, social, and emotional difficulties.
  • Counsels students, parents and guardians to enhance student success in school.
  • Has strong understanding of Response to Intervention for interpreting data, offering interventions, and ultimately determining eligibility.
  • Helps students create smooth transitions to and from school and community learning environments, such as residential treatment centers or ALC.
  • Participates in meetings, workshops, and seminars as assigned to convey and gather information required to perform functions.
  • Promotes school policies and practices to ensure the safety of all students by reducing school violence and bullying.
  • Qualifications
  • Master’s degree or above required; specialist or higher preferred.
  • Must possess (or meet qualifications for) Georgia educational certification in School Psychology.
  • Some school-based experience highly desired.
  • Other qualifications may be considered acceptable by the Superintendent and Board.
  • Salary/Benefits
    • 200-day work year, 20 hours per week.
    • Salary based on certification and experience; placement on the Adopted Salary Schedule and position supplement(s).
