School Psychologist

Bibb County Public Schools – Student Support Services, Macon, Georgia. The Bibb County School District is accepting applications for a School Psychologist.

Duties and Responsibilities

Administers standardized and/or supplemental assessments for the purpose of measuring the intellectual, adaptive, academic, social and emotional development of children and/or determining eligibility for services in compliance with regulatory requirements.

Assesses students’ functional capabilities and home and/or classroom environments to determine functional level and develop recommendations and/or placement.

Assists other staff in developing and applying student monitoring systems and designing academic and behavioral intentions.

Assists all specialists (e.g., autism consultants, behavior specialists, occupational and physical therapists, speech language pathologists, etc.) in creating and delivering student supports.

Compiles information from a variety of sources (e.g., administrators, teachers, nurses, parents, mental health agencies, other professionals) for producing a comprehensive screening/ evaluation report in compliance with established guidelines.

Consults with teachers, parents, and/or other outside personnel or professionals to provide requested information, develop plans for services, and/or make recommendations.

Coordinates with school staff to implement school-wide program development and program evaluation (e.g., RTI, PBIS, Section 504) to ensure effective programs assisting children who experience physical, mental, social, and emotional difficulties.

Counsels students, parents and guardians to enhance student success in school.

Has strong understanding of Response to Intervention for interpreting data, offering interventions, and ultimately determining eligibility.

Helps students create smooth transitions to and from school and community learning environments, such as residential treatment centers or ALC.

Participates in meetings, workshops, and seminars as assigned to convey and gather information required to perform functions.

Promotes school policies and practices to ensure the safety of all students by reducing school violence and bullying.

Qualifications

Master’s degree or above required; specialist or higher preferred.

Must possess (or meet qualifications for) Georgia educational certification in School Psychology.

Some school-based experience highly desired.

Other qualifications may be considered acceptable by the Superintendent and Board.

Salary/Benefits

200-day work year, 20 hours per week.
Salary based on certification and experience; placement on the Adopted Salary Schedule and position supplement(s).
