Job Summary

This position plans and provides learning experiences for students and fosters an environment conducive to intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development to ensure achievement and performance for every child.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Essential Job Functions

Teaching Tasks

  • Provide Instruction: teach at an appropriate instructional level, develop content, build for transfer.
  • Assess and Encourage Student Progress: promote engagement, monitor progress, respond to inadequate progress, support students.
  • Manage the Learning Environment: use time efficiently, maintain effective physical setting, maintain appropriate student behavior.
Virtual Duties and Responsibilities
  • Communicate effectively with all stakeholders in a virtual platform, both written and oral, using positive interpersonal skills.
  • Use a variety of programs and software applications to complete instructional and administrative tasks.
  • Participate in professional learning to enhance online instruction and obtain a virtual teaching endorsement.
  • Clearly articulate deadlines, schedules, and procedures to students and parents to ensure timely completion of coursework.
Teacher Duties and Responsibilities
  • Follow professional practices consistent with school and district policies when working with students, students’ records, parents, and colleagues.
  • Interact professionally with students and parents; be available for conferences per district policies.
  • Facilitate home‑school communication via conferences, telephoning, and written communications.
  • Maintain confidentiality of students and records.
  • Work cooperatively with administrators, special support personnel, colleagues, and parents.
  • Comply with administrative regulations and Board of Education policies.
  • Conduct assigned classes on schedule, enforce conduct regulations, be punctual, provide information, plans, and materials for substitute teachers, maintain accurate records and timely reports.
  • Attend faculty meetings and other required meetings and activities per school policy.
  • Demonstrate professional teaching practices: model correct language usage, demonstrate up‑to‑date content knowledge, implement curriculum, maintain lesson plans, assign reasonable homework.
  • Act professionally and assume responsibility for the overall safety and order of the school program, including supervising students in out‑of‑class settings.
  • Perform other duties as required based on content area, such as competitions, after‑hours activities, and related responsibilities.
  • Plan and coordinate assignments for paraprofessionals, support staff, and volunteers; provide input to administrators on their performance.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in education from an accredited college or university.

Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of student growth and development.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting safety, technology, and educational documents.
  • Ability to prepare and communicate effectively through written reports, lesson plans, and correspondence.
  • Skill in computing and interpreting data, including rate, ratio, and percent calculations.
  • Proficiency with PC operations and software applications (word processing, databases, spreadsheets).
  • Capability to serve as a liaison with various professionals and collaborate with parents and guardians.
  • Capacity to adapt instructional strategies and provide accommodations for individual student needs.
  • Strong physical capability to manage classroom and student needs, including potential crisis intervention situations.
Certification, License and

Special Requirements
  • Obtain clearance certificate from GaPSC.
  • Meet Georgia state certification requirements in Special Education.
Salary/Terms/Benefits
  • 190‑day work year.
  • Salary based on certification and experience; placement on the Adopted Salary Schedule and position supplements.
