DescriptionThis position will be filled at an Exempt Level 4 or 5 depending on the successful candidate’s skills and experience. It is primarily responsible for managing the construction of customer‑owned distribution, substation, low voltage, and generator projects statewide. The role also participates in an on‑call rotation to respond to emergency needs and outages for the Customer Solutions Total Maintenance and Repair (TMR) customer group and other potential TMR customers.
Customer Solutions – Power Services is an unregulated business within Georgia Power company. The position works with a team that focuses on constructing and maintaining customer‑owned distribution, substation, and standby generator systems. Flexible work hours (4‑10’s) are available.
Responsibilities- Schedule and manage new business, system improvement, and maintenance projects on customer‑owned facilities statewide
- Ensure contractors work safely and efficiently and that project construction is on schedule and within budget
- Verify quality of work and provide performance feedback to the contractor workforce
- Review and approve final invoicing from contractors
- Coordinate timely delivery and ensure all materials are properly accounted for during construction and upon job completion
- Provide field and construction support to the team as required to meet customer needs and expectations
- Build and strengthen relationships with external customers and local GPC HQ’s, TMC’s, and Key Account/Sales personnel
- Complete required annual inspections (visual and infrared) for customer‑owned distribution and substation facilities covered by Utility Services Total Maintenance and Repair (TMR) Agreements and develop formal written reports including infrared pictures for presentation to customers
- Work closely with Project Managers and Engineering to promote sales and address design and maintenance issues
Relocation benefits are not available with this position. A company truck will be provided for statewide travel.
This position requires the use of a Georgia Power fleet vehicle. Candidates selected for this role must meet the following:
- Possess at least one year of verifiable driving experience and a valid driver’s license for the class of vehicle to be operated
- Maintain no revocation of driving privileges within the past 36 months and no major traffic violations (DUI, hit and run, reckless driving, etc.) within the past 12 months, and no pending charges for a major traffic violation at the time of application
- Consent to continuous monitoring of the Motor Vehicle Record
Education:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Experience:
- Minimum of seven (7) years of Transmission, Distribution, and/or Substation Construction/Maintenance experience
- Construction leadership experience is strongly preferred
- Proven record of safe work behaviors
- Proven ability to communicate directly and effectively with customers
- Working knowledge of practices, techniques, and equipment used in Substation/Distribution construction and maintenance
- Working knowledge of distribution and substation outage evaluation and restoration procedures
- Effective interpersonal and written communication skills
- Ability to make sound decisions and solve problems
- Ability to read, comprehend, interpret, and communicate construction plans and specifications
- Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships
- Ability to handle multiple projects in various locations
- General knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, TEAMS)
- Availability for frequent travel and after‑hours, weekend, and holiday work
