Tesco Controls is seeking an Automation Engineer to support the development and implementation of control systems for water and wastewater treatment processes. This role involves designing and programming PLC, OIT, and SCADA applications based on engineering drawings and specifications, ensuring accurate and efficient system functionality. The position includes responsibilities for bench and panel testing to validate performance against project requirements, as well as assisting with on‑site startup and troubleshooting.

What you will do
  • Write PLC and SCADA operating programs based on control specifications and Tesco standards to assure safe, reliable, and optimal equipment operation.
  • Write concise operating instructions detailing control parameters and their effects under normal and failure conditions.
  • Provide technical assistance (phone or on‑site) to verify and/or modify PLC/SCADA programs.
  • Work with various departments internally, along with consulting engineers, customers and end‑users to assure proper programming for the system layouts and designs.
  • Analyze and interpret existing programs and documentation for project modifications.
  • Ensure assignments and work schedules follow policy and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively to a wide range of internal and external contacts.
  • Support multiple smaller‑scaled projects.
  • Provide weekly content and job status reports used with scheduling tools.
  • Execute successful unassisted start‑ups of complex sites.
  • Demonstrate ability to perform technical leadership role on projects.
  • Perform quality checks for projects engineered by peers.
  • Conduct customer‑facing workshops and trainings.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Demonstrated Skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • High level of organizational and time‑management skills.
  • Familiarity with industrial automation programming best practices.
Education & Knowledge
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Programming, Computer Science, Computer Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Basic knowledge of ladder logic and structured text programming.
  • Basic knowledge of programming languages such as C, C++, Java.
  • Basic understanding of computer operations and Microsoft Office.
  • Working knowledge of instruments and electro‑mechanical devices used for process control.
Experience
  • Preferred: 2 years of experience.
Requirements
  • Daily travel required.
