Travel RN - Telemetry - Progressive Care Unit

American Traveler is seeking a skilled RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position on night shift requiring GA or compact licensure and at least two years of PCU experience.

Job Details

• Position is in a hospital-based PCU with 10 beds and a Level 1 Trauma designation,

• Patients include step-down ICU cases, step-downs from ICU/ER, and diagnoses such as respiratory failure, renal failure, sepsis, DKA, stroke, and ARDS,

• Nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:3-4,

• CNA support is available during each shift,

• Uses EMR:
Epic; IV pumps:
Alaris; med dispensing:
Pyxis; monitors:
Phillips,

• Night shift is 7p-7a, 12 hours, with a 6-week schedule cycle,

• Required to work 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule and 75% of major holidays,

• Floating to other PCU units is required,

Job Requirements

• Active GA or compact RN license,

• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required,

• At least two years of recent PCU RN experience,

• Must pass an EKG competency exam,

• Experience with trach care, chest tubes, heparin and insulin drips, and management of invasive lines required,

• Epic EMR experience preferred,

• CCRN preferred but not required,

• Typical duties include bedside monitoring, management of various drips, invasive lines, and assisting with or managing bedside procedures,

• Team support includes 24/7 respiratory therapy, hospitalists, intensivists, and CNA coverage,

• Navy scrubs are required for RNs,

• One day facility orientation and two days departmental orientation provided,

• Unit culture is fast-paced and team-oriented,

• First-time travelers will be considered,
