As a Public Health Registered Nurse II at the Monroe County Health Department, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals working to protect the health and well-being of communities across the state by supporting vital public health initiatives. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact, a great schedule, and a healthy work-life balance, allowing you to grow your career while maintaining time for what matters most to you.

Under general supervision, provides direct patient care services as an expanded role nurse. Focuses on the prevention of illness, injury or disability, the promotion of health and maintenance of the health of populations. Cares for population with special needs during disasters/emergencies and biological and chemical protocols.

• Demonstrates knowledge of and exercises good judgment in the execution of patient care protocols.
• Orders appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments and administers medications and vaccines in accordance with protocol.
• Orders appropriate laboratory and diagnostic testing and interpret the results to direct treatment.
• Provides patient education and makes appropriate referrals.
• Facilitates patient decision making by providing health education, counseling, and tools
• Provides thorough documentation of medical assessment, diagnosis, treatment, referrals, education, and consultations in the electronic medical record system.
• Performs women’s wellness services, contraceptive counseling, and contraceptives according to protocol.
• Responsible for maintaining knowledge of the Breast and Cervical Cancer Program (BCCP) and enrolling eligible patients into the program.
• Provides assessment, screening, and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases according to protocol.
