Systems Engineer, Network Engineer
The Lockheed Martin Space Workforce seeks a passionate and dedicated Network Engineer with a background in secure Linux/Windows networking and strong offensive and defensive security experience. The Engineer will support day‑to‑day operations for military space programs and report to the LM IS SWFLANT IT Ops Manager. The position requires an interim Secret clearance prior to start with the ability to obtain Top Secret clearance and U.S. citizenship.
The role is onsite at a Lockheed Martin facility.
- Design, implement, and maintain server infrastructure, including hardware, software, and network components.
- Ensure the security, integrity, and availability of network devices and data.
- Collaborate with other IT teams to support integration and business applications.
- Develop and implement disaster recovery and business‑continuity plans.
- Stay up to date with emerging trends and technologies to continuously improve server infrastructure.
- Maintain U.S. citizenship at the facility.
- 1+ years of network engineering experience (design, implementation, troubleshooting of complex network infrastructure).
- Familiarity with LAN, WAN, and data‑center network design.
- Knowledge of OSI, TCP/IP models, Layer 2/3 technologies (VLAN, OSPF, BGP).
- Hands‑on experience with Cisco hardware.
- Understanding of advanced DNS concepts.
- Interim Secret clearance prior to start with the ability to obtain Top Secret clearance.
- Active CCNA (or higher) Cisco certification.
- Familiarity with DISA STIGs, COMSEC, and/or TACLANEs.
- Strong network traffic analysis, diagnostic, and troubleshooting skills.
- Functional understanding of Splunk for data collection, real‑time monitoring, troubleshooting, and root‑cause analysis.
- Implementation and configuration of firewalls (Palo Alto preferred).
- Understanding of virtualization technologies (VMware, vSAN).
- Experience with cloud networking infrastructure.
- Experience with network automation tools such as Ansible.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, Agile/Scrum environment.
- Proficient with Microsoft PowerPoint and Visio.
- Familiarity with installation and configuration of Big‑IP (F5).
Security clearance level:
Top Secret.
Work schedule:
4×10 hour day, 3 days off per week. Onsite full‑time at a Lockheed Martin facility.
