Facilities Services Division provides quality customer service by maintaining a safe, healthy, and aesthetically pleasing environment in which students, faculty, and staff can function and accomplish their educational objectives and by supporting a patient care culture that continuously improves.
Facilities Services' responsibilities include Interior and Exterior Facilities Support, Construction, Space Management, and Environmental Services.
Provides senior-level, strategic leadership, oversight, and day-to-day direction of the planning, design, and construction activities for all Augusta University facilities. Responsible for the successful and timely completion of a designated program of renovation and new construction capital projects. Manages the programming and design process of large and small-capital projects for new university facilities and specific maintenance, repair, and renovation projects for approximately 160 existing university buildings.
Responsible for leading all campus planning initiatives as well as overseeing the execution of all university construction contracts from vendor selection to final inspection. Serves in the role as the university facility ADA compliance coordinator overseeing the identification, assessment, and corrective actions required for modifying existing physical facilities to comply with current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) codes and guidelines.
Establishes performance metrics to measure effectiveness of the Planning Design and Construction team and develops improvement initiatives to continuously improve the timeliness and quality of the project delivery process.
The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Leadership - Collaborates closely with other Facilities directorates and space management on Facilities related issues.
Works closely with Director, Facilities Operations to create and maintain a comprehensive list of potential large and small-capital projects. Leads the submission of bi-annual capital plans to USG.
Oversees the development of key planning initiatives that foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement as related to the project delivery process within PDC.
Establishes and builds strong professional relationships with industry professionals and local contractors.
Thoroughly assess performance of PDC team members and provides guidance and feedback related to performance; completes detailed annual performance evaluations for staff.
Mentors PDC staff related to career development and long-term goals.
Delivers project-related status updates as required to university leadership as well as issuing regular progress status reports.
Provides leadership and direction to approximately 10 university project managers, architects, coordinators, and administrative staff.
Reviews the progress of PDC staff assigned projects frequently and provides guidance related to resolution of project related questions.
Oversees the assignment of new projects based on staff workloads and capabilities.
Meets regularly with the PDC team to review university initiatives and adjust workloads as needed.
Trains staff on new procedures and processes as well as providing training on university and departmental policies.
Assesses effective approaches to project delivery methods and recommends appropriate direction for procurement of vendor services.
