Job Overview
Candidate will be responsible for managing all HSE aspects of a business line engaged in critical infrastructure projects primarily in eastern and southeast US. In this capacity, the candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing and/or administering health, safety and environmental protection programs affecting occupational health, employee and public safety, environmental protection, and incident investigation. This is a regional management position with the potential to manage junior health and safety personnel, and reports to Senior HSE Management/ VP of HSE & Quality.

In this capacity, the candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing and/or administering health, safety and environmental protection programs affecting occupational health, employee and public safety, environmental protection, and incident investigation. This is a regional management position with the potential to manage junior health and safety personnel, and reports to Senior HSE Management/ VP of HSE & Quality.
Key Responsibilities /Accountabilities- Candidate will serve as a resource to Site Project and Program Managers regarding matters pertaining to Health, Safety & Environmental compliance with applicable federal, state, local, client and APTIM rules and regulations.
- Will also serve as a resource for executive management to develop, administer and oversee the implementation of a proactive Health, Safety & Environmental Management System designed to manage risks while protecting employees and client personnel from incidents and illnesses on primarily critical infrastructure projects including maritime, port infrastructure and engineering, sustainability programs and other related projects.
- Will support and manage industrial hygiene (IH), industrial safety and environmental compliance activities at various work locations potentially including international sites.
- Responsible for development of programs and practices including hazard evaluations that will support all work activities performed on complex and high-risks projects.
- Will work with all personnel engaged in these projects including executives, project management, HSE peers, operational personnel, clients and regulators.
- Candidate should be able to demonstrate ability to work and influence client and organizational leadership to set priorities, solidify relationships, while possessing the ability to ensure company and client compliance with APTIM Health Safety & Environmental procedures, Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations, United States Army Corps of Engineers EM 385-1-1, state and local HSE regulations, and other job-specified procedures or standards.
- Responsible for identifying business issues that may impact organizational results, develop business plans and budgets to achieve functional, cross-functional objectives or operational objectives while deploying and managing to achieve financial and business objectives across multiple functional areas.
- Must communicate, present or justify overall Health and Safety performance to management as necessary, participates in executive level meetings including board meetings, financial reviews, strategic planning, and take active role presenting proposals to prospective clients and leveraging the performance management cycle to motivate employees and support achievement of objectives are essential for this opportunity.
- Will support staffing and resourcing of all current and new projects in the applicable business lines.
- Will review and evaluate subcontractor safety performance and metrics as needed.
- Candidate will perform quarterly HSE assessments at selected long-term projects.
- Past safety and environmental related work experience on local, state, and/or federal government projects (i.e, NAVFAC, USACE, AFCEE, etc.)
