Strong clinical assessment and med‑surg nursing skills for a Level 1 Trauma Hospital.
Join a dynamic team as a Med Surg/Tele Registered Nurse at a leading Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital. The unit consists of 35 beds with a typical census of approximately 35 patients, caring for orthopedic and trauma injuries as well as acute or chronic conditions. Common diagnoses include fractures, head trauma, and post‑operative patients; comorbidities include diabetes, hypertension, infections, and CHF.
Patient ratios are RN 1:4‑6, LPN 1:4‑6, and CNA 2‑3 per shift. Required skills include managing trach care, chest tubes, IV starts, medication drips, wound care, post‑operative monitoring, and cardiac monitoring. You will coordinate with the interdisciplinary team for discharge planning and patient education, especially regarding renal and fluid management. The unit offers full support from Certified Nursing Assistants, a resource nurse, hospitalist, and intensivist available 24/7.
Technology includes EMR systems, IV pumps, and telemetry monitoring. Expect a shift rotation that includes weekends and major holidays; the culture is fast‑paced but teamwork is a priority.
