Medical/Surgical IU 6 Main
Full time | Pay Range: $68.20 - $102.30 |
Hours:
40 per week
Schedule:
Monday‑Friday and on‑call leader weekend rotation
- Strategic Direction:
Identifies and acts on opportunities to gain competitive advantage and enhance organizational growth. - Develops and updates a well‑defined strategic plan (goals and objectives) that aligns with nursing organizational goals.
- Develops evidence‑based policies and procedures that support the strategic plan.
- Enhances the positive image of Advocate through community participation.
- Results Accountability:
Maintains an appropriate working environment where activities are planned and scheduled and assures proper distribution/utilization of personnel. - Demonstrates commitment to achieving organizational and departmental results through actions and behaviors.
- Holds employees accountable for contributing to results.
- Develops, communicates, implements, and role‑models plans to ensure compliance with internal and external accrediting and regulatory policies.
- Conducts self‑performance appraisal and pursues formal education and certifications; obtains at least 12 hours of continuing education.
- Process Improvement:
Utilizes PI approach for process design and nurse‑sensitive indicators. - Ensures regulatory quality control is completed and documented promptly.
- Uses an interdisciplinary shared governance approach to resolve problems.
- Ensures timely patient throughput through effective discharge planning and flow management.
- Change Management:
Implements changes in the department or organization using the change management process. - Prepares employees for change and supports adaptation to evolving environments.
- Participates in pilot studies evaluating innovative processes.
- Interpersonal & Communication:
Employs effective communication techniques to deliver timely information about quality of service and organizational goals. - Fosters respectful relationships across the health care team and encourages diverse perspectives.
- Sets clear guidelines and expectations for staff.
- Develops customer satisfaction programs and responds to patient and family needs.
- Financial Accountability:
Participates in budget preparation and monitors expenditures against budget. - Demonstrates understanding of budgeting and uses resources efficiently.
- Monitors productivity to meet organizational percentile rankings.
- Follows requisition and project completion procedures.
- Technical Expertise:
Demonstrates competency in nursing specialty, staying current with technology and evidence‑based practice. - Ensures staff competence in knowledge, skill, and technology, and shares knowledge through educational activities.
- Establishes safe, effective care consistent with legal scope of nursing practice and ANA Code of Ethics.
- Maintains a clean environment and supplies ready for use; ensures compliance with patient safety goals.
- Leads conflict resolution, provides feedback, and fosters professional development.
- Encourages participation in professional development, certification, and community service.
- Manages personnel processes, including interview, recruitment, retention, and orientation.
- Supports unit quality scores that meet or exceed hospital and national averages for nurse‑sensitive indicators.
- Graduate of an approved school of nursing; BSN required, MSN preferred.
- Minimum 4 years of nursing experience; at least 2 years in specialty area preferred; at least 2 years in progressively responsible leadership roles.
Job Requirements , Licenses, Certifications
Current Registered Nursing License with the Georgia Board of Nursing or Current Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC). Recommend certification in relevant specialty. CPR/ACLS required.
Physical RequirementsMust use visual acuity to view monitors and documents; must hear and verbally communicate in person and over phone or radio; must sit for prolonged periods up to 2 hours; must operate office equipment; must possess functional range of motion for all major body parts with grip strength of 50‑60 lbs; must lift up to 10 lbs.
