Job Title: RN - Med Surg/Tele (Onsite Contract)
Duration: 13 Weeks (Starts 7/13/2026)
Location: Macon, GA
Shift: 12 hours/day, night shift (7p-7a), 3 days/week
Shift Details: 12‑hour night shift, 3 days per week (36 hrs total). On Call:
None. Weekend rotation: 6 shifts on a 6‑week schedule. Holiday requirement:
Travelers will work 75% of holidays.

- Census: 35
- Minimum Years of Experience required: 2 years Med/Tele RN experience
- First‑time traveler accepted:
Yes
- Patients with acute or chronic disease
- Post‑op surgeries
- Co‑morbidities common to med‑surg population: diabetes, hypertension, infections, CHF, electrolyte imbalances
- RN: 1:4‑6
- LPN: 1:4‑6
- CNA: 2‑3 per shift
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required
- BCR (Basic Cardiac Rhythm) required – must pass an EKG competency exam as part of compliance
- ACLS preferred
- National Medical‑Surgical certification preferred
- Tracheostomy care, chest tube management, PIV starts, glucommander, insulin drips, heparin drips, drips to titrate heart rate (not blood pressure)
- Strong clinical assessment and med‑surg nursing skills for Level 1 Trauma Hospital
- IV insertion and care, central line management
- Wound care and post‑op monitoring
- Cardiac monitoring and telemetry interpretation
- Care coordination with interdisciplinary teams
- Discharge planning and patient education management
- CNA duties: assist with VS, glucose checks, baths, feeding, ambulating, turning patients, hourly rounding, transporting as needed (hospital has designated transport team); obtain blood from blood bank
- Receptionist/HUC: unit secretary 7a‑11p; house‑wide call secretary 11p‑7a
- Charge nurse: may have patients
- Phlebotomy: most units are lab collect; nurses drawn from CVLs
- IV/VAT Team: not an IV team — we have a PICC team
- Resource Nurse: discharge nurses, resource team floats to all units
- RT 24/7: yes
- Hospitalist 24/7: yes
- Intensivist 24/7: yes
- Telemetry monitoring/tech:
Central Telemetry Unit
- EMR: EPIC
- IV Pump:
Alaris - Med dispensing:
Pyxis - Monitors:
Phillips - Unit specific equipment: VS3 vital sign monitors, Nova Glucose Stat Strips, Cardiac Telemetry monitoring, Portable vital signs monitors (Dynamapp), Bladder scanners, IV pump, portable oxygen system, External fixators, chest tubes, JP drains, Hemovac drains, Glucommander, PCA pain management, Suction machine
- Use of admission/discharge protocol for rapid turnover
- 1 day orientation with work on educational modules
- 2 days departmental
- All adult med‑surg / telemetry units in house
- Shift: 7p‑7a
- On Call:
None - Weekend Rotation: 6 shifts on a 6‑week schedule (6 out of 12 shifts)
- Holiday Requirements:
Travelers will work 75% of holidays - Floating Requirements: all med‑surg / telemetry units
- Scrub Color: RN – Navy; LPN – Ceil Blue
- Parking:
Free parking around campus or pay to park in parking decks - Unit Culture: busy but work as team
