American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a float pool ICU position at a Level 1 Trauma, academic teaching hospital in Macon, GA, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience and Epic proficiency.
Requirements- Active GA or Compact RN license required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required; CCRN preferred
- Minimum 2 years of ICU RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
- 6 months of Epic EMR experience required
- Proficiency with common ICU drips including insulin, heparin, narcotics, paralytics, vasopressors, sedation, and cardiac drips
- Skills required include trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, and glucometer use
- Must pass an EKG competency exam during onboarding
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
- Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
- Float pool position covering all ICU units (MICU, CCU, CVICU, NICU, STICU) and the PCU step-down unit, as well as ER holds
- ICU units range from 10–20 beds per unit; PCU is a general medical step-down unit
- Patient population spans critical care diagnoses including DKA, sepsis, respiratory/kidney/liver failure, GI bleeds, surgical and trauma patients (MVA, GSW, stabbings, falls), high-level neuro cases (craniotomies, EVDs, ICP monitoring), and cardiovascular cases (MIs, STEMIs, post-cath, vascular surgeries)
- Travelers will not be assigned fresh open hearts, AAA repairs, or advanced cardiac devices such as IABPs, Impellas, ECMO, or LVADs
- ICU nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:1–2 (occasionally 1:3 depending on acuity); PCU ratio is 1:3–4
- 12‑hour night shifts, 7p–7a, 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend rotation required
- No on‑call responsibilities

Nova Stat Strips - Float pool role — candidates must be comfortable floating to any ICU or PCU unit as needed, with no set guarantee on unit assignment per shift
- Level 1 Trauma Center and academic teaching hospital with a Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center designation
- Support staff includes CNAs, unit secretaries (on unit 7a–11p), charge nurses, a PICC team, discharge nurses, a resource float team, and 24/7 respiratory therapy, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage
- ICU nurses are responsible for monitoring their own patients' telemetry
- Orientation includes 1 day of general facility orientation with educational modules followed by 2 days of departmental orientation
- Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
