RN-Registered Nurse // Med Surg / Telemetry Onsite Contract Starts 6/01/2026 13 weeks
12 hours/day 3 days/week
Registered Nurse (RN) – Med Surg/Telemetry (Travel Assignment)Duration: 13 weeks
Location: 777 Hemlock Street, Macon, GA 31201
Schedule: 3x12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | 36 hours/week
- 637 licensed beds
- Teaching hospital
- Certified Chest Pain Center
- Designated Stroke Center
- Med‑Surg units range from 20–36 beds
- Minimum experience:
2 years Med‑Surg/Telemetry RN experience required - First‑time travelers accepted
- General Med‑Surg and Telemetry patients
- Acute and chronic conditions
- Common comorbidities: diabetes, hypertension, infections, electrolyte imbalances
- Cardiac patients: post‑cardiac catheterization, CHF, atrial fibrillation
- Post‑surgical patients: general, orthopedic, trauma
- RN: 1:4–6
- LPN: 1:4–6
- CNA: up to 1:14
- Active RN license
- BLS (required)
- ACLS (preferred; required to pass EKG competency exam during onboarding)
- Med‑Surg certification (preferred)
- Tracheostomy care
- Chest tube management
- Peripheral IV insertion and maintenance
- Strong assessment, time management, and care coordination
- Discharge planning and patient education
Telemetry
Skills:
- Cardiac rhythm monitoring and interpretation
- Post‑cath care, including TR bands and groin site management (no sheath pulls)
Drips:
- May titrate for heart rate (not blood pressure)
- CNAs assist with vitals, glucose checks, hygiene, mobility, feeding, and patient safety
- Unit Secretary available 7:00 AM – 11:00 PM; house‑wide coverage overnight
- Lab/Phlebotomy: primarily lab‑drawn; RNs draw from central lines
- Resource and discharge nurses available
- Respiratory Therapy, Hospitalists, and Intensivists available 24/7
- Central telemetry monitoring
- EMR:
Epic - IV Pumps:
Alaris - Medication Dispensing:
Pyxis - Monitors:
Philips - Additional equipment: VS3 vital sign monitors, Nova glucose meters
- Required to float to all Med‑Surg/Telemetry units (including Baldwin) as needed
- 1 day general orientation (includes educational modules)
- 2 days unit‑specific orientation
- Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- 12‑hour shifts
- No on‑call requirements
- Must work approximately 75% of holidays
- Includes one shift for each major holiday group:
- Thanksgiving (or following day)
- Christmas Eve/Day
- New Year’s Eve/Day
- Scrub Color: RN – Navy | LPN – Ceil Blue
