American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position at a Level 1 Trauma, academic teaching hospital, requiring at least 2 years of Med/Tele experience and strong cardiac monitoring skills.
Details- 30-bed Med/Surg Telemetry unit in a 637-licensed-bed Level 1 Trauma, academic teaching hospital with a Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center designation
- Patient population includes those with acute and chronic disease, post-op surgeries, and post-cardiac procedures, with common diagnoses including heart failure, A-Fib, NSTEMI, sepsis, COPD, respiratory failure, acute kidney injury, and diabetes
- RN-to-patient ratio of 1:4–6, supported by LPNs and CNAs on each shift
- Telemetry is managed through a Central Telemetry Unit
- EMR is Epic; experience preferred

Philips - Unit equipment includes VS3 vital sign monitors, Glucommander, PCA pain management, bladder scanners, chest tubes, JP and Hemovac drains, external fixators, and portable oxygen systems
- 12-hour shifts available on both day (7a–7p) and night (7p–7a) schedules
- Weekend rotation of 5–6 shifts per 6-week schedule
- No on-call or call-back requirements
- Floating required to all adult Med/Surg and Telemetry units within the hospital
- Active RN license — GA state or Compact license required
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg Telemetry RN experience, with most recent experience within the last year
- BLS certification required
- Must pass an EKG/Basic Cardiac Rhythm (BCR) competency exam as part of compliance
- ACLS preferred
- Medical-Surgical nursing certification preferred but not required
- Proficiency in trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, Glucommander, insulin drips, heparin drips, and drips to titrate heart rate
- Skills in IV insertion and care, central line management, wound care, post-op monitoring, groin management, Foley insertion/care, and cardiac telemetry interpretation
- 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN is required for consideration
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
- Provide Med/Surg Telemetry nursing care including cardiac monitoring, care coordination with interdisciplinary teams, discharge planning, and patient education with emphasis on renal and fluid management
- Supported by CNAs (VS, glucose checks, ADLs, ambulation, rounding, transport), a unit secretary (7a–11p), house-wide call secretary (11p–7a), charge nurse, PICC team, discharge nurses, resource float team, phlebotomy, and 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage
- Orientation consists of 1 day of facility orientation with educational modules followed by 2 days of departmental orientation
- Holiday coverage required — travelers are expected to work approximately 75% of holidays, including one shift of each major holiday (Thanksgiving or day after, 12/24 or 12/25, and 12/31 or 1/1)
- RTO requests require manager approval
- RN scrub color is navy blue
- Candidates who previously held a permanent position at an AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year to be eligible
- Local candidates are accepted — no radius rule applies; the same rate applies for local travelers at GA facilities
