This Registered Nurse (RN) position specializes in Medical-Surgical with Telemetry (Med Surg/Tele) in a healthcare facility located in Macon, Georgia. The role involves providing specialized nursing care to post/pre cardiac patients and step-down intensive care unit (ICU) patients, including those with diagnoses such as congestive heart failure (CHF), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), non-ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI), and sepsis.
Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day of assignment.
- Schedule:
Nights shift, 8-hour shifts, minimum of 40 hours per week. - Required Qualifications:
Valid nursing license; BLS (Basic Life Support); BCR (Basic Cardiac Rhythm) certification; 2 years of Med Surg/Telemetry RN experience. - Preferred Qualifications:
ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification; nationally recognized Med-Surg nursing certification. - Additional Information:
- Patient ratios: RN: 1:4-6; CNA: 2-3 per shift.
- Support staff includes CNAs, a unit secretary, charge nurses, phlebotomists, PICC team, discharge nurses, resource nurses, and 24/7 specialized teams including RT, hospitalists, and intensivists.
- Technology used includes EPIC electronic medical records, Alaris IV pumps, Philips monitors, and VS vital sign monitors.
- Clinical skills required include trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, glucommander experience, insulin drips, heparin drips, cardiac monitoring, and telemetry interpretation.
- Responsibilities encompass patient assessment, wound care, post-operative monitoring, discharge planning, and patient education, especially regarding renal and fluid management.
- Orientation includes one day for educational modules and two additional days departmental.
- Support within the department involves assisting with patient care tasks such as vital signs, glucose checks, ambulating patients, and transporting as needed.
