RN – Med Surg/Telemetry

Pay: $1,246 weekly stipends, $10–$12/hour, $360–$432 weekly base pay.

• Bed count per Med Surg unit: 20–36 beds
• Minimum experience:
  
  2 years Med/Tele RN experience
• First‑time traveler? Yes

• Med Surg / Telemetry – all inpatient Med‑Surg units

• RN: 1:4‑6
• LPN: 1:4‑6
• CNA: up to 1:14

• BLS required
• ACLS preferred; required to pass and pass EKG competency exam during onboarding
• Certification in Med‑Surg is a plus

• Trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, glucometer use
• Common drips: insulin drips, heparin drips, HR titration drips, must be proficient in all cardiac drips
• Support within the department: CNA assists with vitals, glucose checks, baths, bed changes, feeding if needed, patient safety attendant; walk patients, turn patients
• Unit secretary: on unit 7 a‑11 p; then housewide call secretary 11 p‑7 a
• Charge nurse:
  Yes
• Phlebotomy: most units have lab collection; RNs draw off CVLs
• IV/VAT team: not an IV team but has a PICC team
• Resource nurse: discharge nurses, resource team floats to all units
• RT 24/7
• Hospitalist 24/7
• Intensivist 24/7

• EMR: EPIC
• IV Pump:

• Medication dispensing:

• Monitors:
  Phillips
• Unit‑specific equipment: VS3 vital sign monitors, Nova glucose stat strips

• 1 day orientation with work on educational modules
• 2 days departmental

• Scrub color: RN – navy; LPN – ceil blue
