American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring a GA or compact RN license and at least 2 years of ED nursing experience.
Requirements- Active RN license (GA or compact) required
- Minimum 2 years of ED RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
- BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications required
- BCR (Basic Cardiac Rhythm) required, including passing an EKG competency exam as part of compliance
- National certification in emergency nursing preferred but not required
- Level 1 Trauma emergency room nursing experience required
- Experience with drips including Heparin, Insulin, Cardene, Dopamine, Epinephrine, Fentanyl, Propofol, and Levophed
- EPIC EMR experience required
- Minimum 1 professional reference dated within one year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
- Level 1 Trauma Emergency Department in a 637-bed teaching hospital with Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center designations
- Unit has 61 beds plus surge capacity
- Patient population includes chest pain, strokes, diabetes, abdominal pain, MVCs, HTN, stabbings, and mental health cases
- RN to patient ratio of 1:4 depending on assigned zone
- 12-hour day shifts scheduled 7A-7P
- Weekend rotation of 5-6 shifts out of 12 on a 6-week schedule
- No on-call requirements
- Floating required within the ED and to Baldwin if needed
- Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors
- Central telemetry monitoring available in the ED
- Support staff includes CNAs, unit secretary, charge nurse, phlebotomy, PICC team, and 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage
- Provide emergency nursing care across a high-acuity, fast-paced Level 1 Trauma unit with a strong team culture
- CNAs assist with vital signs, glucose checks, bathing, feeding, ambulating, turning, hourly rounding, and patient transport
- Facility has a designated Transport Team and PICC team, though there is no dedicated IV team
- Unit-specific equipment includes VS3 vital sign monitors, Nova glucose stat strips, cardiac telemetry monitoring, portable vital sign monitors, PCA pain management, bladder scanners, suction machines, and rapid infusers
- Orientation includes 1 day of facility orientation with educational modules and 2 days of departmental orientation
- Holiday coverage required for approximately 75% of major holidays, including one shift each for Thanksgiving or the day after, Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve or New Year's Day
- RTO requests subject to manager approval
- Scrub color requirement is Navy for RNs and Ceil Blue for LPNs

- Candidates must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position
