American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg-Tele RN for a 12-hour night shift assignment at a Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital, requiring 2+ years of Med/Tele RN experience and a GA or compact RN license.

• Med/Surg-Tele unit with 35 beds and full census
• Patients present with acute/chronic disease, post-op needs, and comorbidities such as diabetes, hypertension, infections, CHF, and electrolyte imbalances
• RN ratio 1:4-6, LPN ratio 1:4-6, with 2-3 CNAs per shift
• 12-hour night shift schedule, 7P-7A, 36 hours/week
• Weekend rotation of 6 shifts on a 6-week schedule
• No on-call or call-back requirements
• Floating required to all adult med-surg/telemetry units in the facility
• EPIC EMR used, along with Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis med dispensing, and Phillips monitors
• Unit equipped with cardiac telemetry monitoring, portable vital sign monitors, bladder scanners, PCA pumps, and glucommander for insulin management

• Active GA or compact RN license required
• BLS certification required
• BCR (Basic Cardiac Rhythm) competency exam required as part of compliance
• ACLS certification preferred but not required
• Medical-Surgical national certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Tele RN experience required
• Minimum 12 months of core work experience in unit specialty area, with most recent experience within the last year
• Skilled in trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, insulin and heparin drip titration, central line management, and wound care
• Strong clinical assessment skills suited for a Level 1 Trauma hospital environment
• EPIC EMR experience required
• 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN required
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration

• Provide comprehensive med-surg/telemetry nursing care including cardiac monitoring, IV and central line management, wound care, and post-op monitoring
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for care coordination, discharge planning, and patient education
• Supported by CNAs, unit secretaries, charge nurses, resource/discharge nurses, and 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage
• Central telemetry monitoring team supports cardiac telemetry interpretation
• Facility is a 637-bed Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital with Chest Pain and Stroke Center designations
• Orientation includes 1 day of educational modules and 2 days of departmental orientation
• Scrub color required:

• Travelers required to work 75% of holidays
