American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN
- Med/Surg Tele for a night shift float pool position at a Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital, requiring 2+ years of Med/Tele RN experience.
- Float pool position covering all inpatient Med/Surg and Telemetry units
- Units range from 20-36 beds each
- Patient ratios of RN 1:4-6, LPN 1:4-6, and CNA up to 1:14
- 12-hour night shift schedule (7P-7A), 36 hours per week
- Weekend rotation of 6 shifts on a 6-week schedule
- No on-call or call-back requirements
- Central telemetry monitoring unit with dedicated tech support
- Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis med dispensing, and Phillips monitors
- Unit-specific equipment includes VS3 vital sign monitors and Nova Glucose Stat Strips
- Required to float to all Med/Surg and Telemetry units as needed
- Active RN license (GA or Compact) required
- BLS required; ACLS preferred, with EKG competency exam required during onboarding if not already certified
- Minimum 2 years Med/Tele RN experience required
- Minimum 12 months core work experience in specialty area within the last year
- Certification in Med/Surg is a plus
- Proficiency in all cardiac drips required, including insulin and heparin drips
- Skilled in trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, and glucometer use
- Last 4 of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
- Minimum 1 professional reference dated within one year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
- Work at a 637-bed Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital with Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center designations
- Strong interdisciplinary support including 24/7 RT, Hospitalist, and Intensivist coverage
- CNA support for vitals, blood glucose checks, baths, feeding, and patient mobility
- Charge nurse and resource/discharge nurse support available on each shift
- Lab collect phlebotomy on most units; RNs draw from CVLs as needed; dedicated PICC team available
- Unit culture described as busy and team-oriented
- Orientation includes 1 day of facility orientation with educational modules and 2 days of departmental orientation
- Navy scrubs required for RNs
- Free parking available around campus, with paid parking deck options
- Holiday coverage required for approximately 75% of holidays
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply

- Returning employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year following a permanent position
