Position: Land Conservation Corps Assistant Crew Leader (AmeriCorps) - Fall

The Larimer County Conservation Corps (LCCC) offers positions to young adults to spend a season serving on meaningful conservation projects throughout the Front Range of Colorado. Crew Details

Land Assistant Crew Leader (Camping) is a temporary position from August 10 - November 4, 2026. The crew will complete a variety of trail maintenance and construction, river restoration, and grounds maintenance projects. Projects include one week of grounds maintenance at Bellvue Watson Fish Hatchery, three weeks of building beaver dam analogs near Red Feather Lakes, two weeks of maintenance projects at Cherokee State Wildlife Area and two weeks of trail maintenance in Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests.

All projects, excluding the Bellvue Watson Fish Hatchery, require camping. Crew will camp at designated campsites near the worksite.

Crew Schedule

Assistant Crew Leaders are expected to serve 7:00 a.m.

- 5:30 p.m. Monday - Thursday and attend a staff meeting on Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to noon. If on a camping crew, crew leaders must camp Monday - Wednesday, returning to Fort Collins after working on Thursday. Meals will be provided while camping.

This schedule may be modified due to holidays, training, weather, logistics, or other unforeseen circumstances. Training dates will be coordinated and communicated.

Project Implementation
  • Complete trail maintenance and habitat restoration throughout a variety of landscapes
  • Perform duties expected of any crew member including conservation work, meal preparation, camp clean up, and other day-to-day duties
  • Demonstrate the safe operation and maintenance of tools and equipment
  • Safely drive a vehicle and trailer
  • Use technology to accurately complete digital daily and weekly logs
  • Implement Larimer County Conservation Corps policies and procedures
  • Coordinate logistics with project sponsors, program coordinator, and corps manager
  • Report directly to the crew leader, position to be filled
What you’ll be doing
  • Mentoring a crew of seven Ameri Corps crew members, ages 18 to 30, daily.
  • Motivating and encouraging others to work and persevere in difficult and physically challenging work settings.
  • Promoting leadership while encouraging the development of teamwork, self worth, conflict resolution, effective communication, goal setting, decision making, and the building of community.
  • Monitoring the physical and emotional safety of the crew.
  • Assisting in training crew, in areas including, but not limited to, proper tool use and Leave No Trace principles.
  • Maintaining a safe working environment and enforcing the use of appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Assisting in facilitation of team building activities, environmental education, and job/life skills curriculum on a regular basis, or as projects determine appropriate.

  • Education in natural resources, forestry, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
  • Must be at least 16 years of age; depending on grant funding, some opportunities may only be available to participants 18 years of age or older.
  • Water and Energy Team Members and Assistant Crew Leaders for all programs:
    Possession of a valid Driver's License by date of hire required.
