Position: Heavy Equipment Diesel Mechanic (PM)

Overview

Dobbs Equipment is seeking an experienced Preventative Maintenance Service Technician to perform high‑quality lubrication and periodic maintenance on heavy equipment. The role requires a strong customer service focus, adherence to safety policies, and the ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities
  • Perform preventive maintenance, including lubrication, fluid replacement, and filter changes on heavy equipment.
  • Conduct thorough machine inspections and identify potential issues.
  • Use troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve equipment problems.
  • Prepare accurate service reports and documentation.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Communicate regularly with the Service Manager regarding equipment status and needs.
  • Participate in ongoing training and service initiatives.
  • Represent the dealership professionally at all times.
Qualifications
  • Valid Class B CDL driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Associate degree from a two‑year college or technical school, or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems in industrial equipment.
  • Ability to perform routine maintenance and basic repairs using specified tools and manuals.
  • Good communication skills and strong problem‑solving abilities.
  • Excellent time management and self‑management skills.
  • Ability to lift and carry between 50–75 lbs, work in varied temperature and noise conditions, and use personal protective equipment.
  • Flexible schedule; willingness to work overtime and travel when required.
Physical Demands
  • Use full range of motion for arms, hands, arms, and legs; climb and descend equipment up to 4 feet.
  • Lift or carry up to 75 lbs frequently.
  • Operate hand tools and hydraulic systems on equipment.
  • Wear respirators, welding shields, hard hats, vests, safety glasses, gloves, and other protective gear as required.
Work Environment

Work is performed in a service shop with exposure to changing temperatures, wet or humid conditions, noise, vibration, fumes, odors, dust, and close proximity to moving mechanical parts.
