Position OverviewWe are currently seeking an experienced Commercial HVAC Chiller Technician to join our fast‑growing team. The ideal candidate will have a can‑do attitude and strong problem‑solving skills, as well as an active EPA Certification.
Job Responsibilities- Perform routine and unscheduled maintenance and repair of commercial systems including air‑cooled chillers, centrifugal chillers, pumps, cooling towers, air handler units, valves, fan coil units, and variable air volume systems.
- Diagnose and repair machine and equipment defects, including electronic, mechanical, and electrical components related to these systems.
- Inspect and test system components to ensure proper operation, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards.
- Conduct preventive maintenance, repair, installation, general servicing, and troubleshooting of mechanical HVAC systems.
- Assist in installing, retrofitting, and commissioning commercial chiller systems and related HVAC equipment.
- Interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals to assess and repair HVAC systems.
- Service, troubleshoot, and repair commercial/industrial chiller and refrigeration equipment.
- Comfortable and knowledgeable in electrical components, timers, contractors, and relays.
- Adhere to safety protocols and comply with regulatory requirements related to HVAC and refrigeration systems.
- Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction through direct, on‑site customer interface.
- Provide technical guidance and recommendations to clients regarding maintenance schedules, energy efficiency, and system improvement.
- Prepare and present detailed service reports to customers.
- Continual learning and development through First Call Academy to ensure skill levels meet industry standards.
- Provide elite customer service to maintain First Call as the go‑to HVAC partner.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
- Active EPA Certification.
- 5+ years of experience in a commercial HVAC setting with chillers.
- OSHA 10 certification.
- Technical training in HVAC or refrigeration.
- Available to work flexible hours and on‑call shifts as needed.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving skills.
Communication – Able to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Able to write correspondence and effectively communicate with customers during jobs.
Mathematical Skills – Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimal numbers. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to interpret graphs.
Reasoning Ability – Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Prioritize multiple tasks.
Physical DemandsRegular use of hands; frequent standing, walking, and sitting; climbing or balancing and stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling; raising or moving up to 50 pounds; specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth vision, and ability to adjust focus.
