Carotek, a Sun Source company, provides process equipment solutions for the industrial, commercial and municipal markets in North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia and Virginia. We represent over 85 manufacturers as process equipment distributor, representative, and repair center for pumps, blowers, heat exchangers, valves, instrumentation, IIoT, steam, hydronics and municipal products.

We are looking for a field service technologist who will commission, calibrate, troubleshoot, and repair a variety of industrial process equipment at customer sites across the Macon, GA region and surrounding areas. The role involves traveling directly from home to the field in a company‑supplied truck.

Responsibilities
  • Commission, calibrate, troubleshoot, and repair flow meters, pressure transmitters, level transmitters, temperature transmitters, chart recorders, controllers, and valves to meet customer requirements.
  • Visually inspect, test, and recommend changes to ensure installations meet manufacturers’ standards for operation.
  • Observe processes, develop and apply test procedures to detect proper or malfunctioning operation, prepare reports, and discuss findings with customers or sales representatives.
  • Dismantle defective instrumentation and equipment and replace with new or repaired parts following manufacturers’ procedures.
  • Assemble, repair, or replace related instrumentation and associated equipment.
  • Direct installers on proper placement of equipment according to drawings and manufacturers’ recommendations.
  • Advise customers on proper installation requirements.
  • Collaborate with other field service technicians, manufacturer representatives, and customers to diagnose malfunctions and provide technical solutions for complex instrumentation requirements.
  • Train customer representatives on proper use, troubleshooting, and maintenance of instrumentation and equipment; prepare related spare‑parts materials.

Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in a technical field (instrumentation, mechatronics, electronic engineering technology) or four or more years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency with PLCs, I/O, pneumatics, hydraulics, sensors, AC/DC instrumentation.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, networking, database management, and Windows components.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts and apply them to practical situations, including conversion of measurements and calculation of gas, temperature, balance air or water flow, etc.
  • ISO 17025 certification preferred but not required.
  • Valid state driver’s license and a clean driving record; ability to transport self to various facility sites as required.
Work Environment and Physical Demands

Regular exposure to wet/humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, electrical shock risk, high or precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, varying weather conditions, extreme heat, cold, and vibration. Noise may be loud.

Use of hands to manipulate parts, hand tools, impact wrenches, multimeters, voltmeters, etc., and operation of office equipment. May lift and/or move up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.

Full‑time position:
Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Requires overtime and weekend work as needed. Travel up to 75% of the time, primarily local; occasional travel to other states (SC, VA, TN, GA) on short notice. Company vehicle and tools provided.
