Based out of the Macon, GA facility, and reporting to the Director of Construction, the Pipefitter will be engaged in fabricating, assembling, installing, and maintaining commercial HVAC piping systems. They work primarily in industrial, commercial settings, ensuring that pipes are properly fitted and connected to facilitate the flow of liquids, gases, and other substances. Refrigeration & hydronic piping experience is required.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Pipe Installation:
    Accurately measuring, cutting, and fitting pipes according to engineering specifications and blueprints. Working with various types of pipes such as steel, copper, plastic, and stainless steel, and using tools like saws, pipe cutters, and threaders to shape and prepare the pipes for installation.
  • Pipe Connection:
    Connecting pipes using welding, soldering, brazing, or mechanical fittings. Ensuring that the connections are secure, leak‑free, and aligned properly, and installing valves, gauges, and other control devices as needed.
  • Blueprint Interpretation:
    Reading and interpreting blueprints, isometric drawings, and other technical documents to understand the layout and configuration of the piping systems. Identifying pipe types and sizes, locating fittings, and planning pipe routing.
  • Pipe Repair and Maintenance:
    Diagnosing and troubleshooting issues such as leaks, blockages, or faulty components. Dismantling and replacing damaged pipes, valves, or fittings, and performing routine maintenance tasks, including cleaning, lubrication, and inspection to ensure optimal performance.
  • Safety Compliance:
    Adhering to safety protocols and regulations, including proper ventilation, handling hazardous materials, and using personal protective equipment. Following safety procedures during high‑risk activities such as welding or cutting.
  • Collaboration:

    Working as part of a team that includes plumbers, welders, and other construction professionals. Effectively communicating and collaborating with team members to ensure smooth installation and operation of piping systems.
  • Documentation:
    Maintaining records of work performed, including materials used, measurements, and any system modifications. Accurate documentation is essential for future reference, maintenance, and compliance.
Qualifications
  • Refrigeration & hydronic piping experience is required.
  • Work within precise limits or standards of accuracy.
  • Capable of climbing and maintaining balance on ladders, lifts, and scaffolds, and standing, stooping, kneeling, or crouching as needed.
  • Capable of exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical activity requirements exceed those for light work; must be able to handle and lift objects weighing up to 75 pounds, with frequent lifting and carrying of up to 50 pounds in a safe manner.
  • Minimum 4 years vocational preparation and 5+ years related work experience.
  • Ability to read safety rules and instructions for tools, equipment, and mechanical drawing and layout work.
  • Ability to write reports with proper format, punctuation, spelling, and grammar.
