Truck Driver - Hiker​/Vehicle Transporter​/CDL - Part Time

Position Summary

Penske Truck Leasing seeks highly motivated and qualified applicants to fill the unique position of Hiker (Vehicle Transporter/Truck Driver). This position is responsible for vehicle delivery and returning vehicles to Penske locations and Penske customers. Primarily, the job involves moving box trucks up to 26’ and for CDL Class A, tractors and trailer movement. The position may also provide assistance to the service department to deliver parts and equipment.

This is a casual/on-call part-time truck driving job suitable for licensed CDL Class B or CDL Class A drivers seeking supplemental income and working 0 to 25 hours a week. The role will operate Monday-Thursday 6am-2pm starting and ending at the Macon, GA location.

• Follow safety procedures while driving trucks to Penske or customer locations.
• Check vehicles to ensure mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in working order; report issues to the location manager.
• Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payment for services when required.
• Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles.
• Perform other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor.

• Minimum 2 years of driving experience.
• Minimum 2 years of a clean DMV motor vehicle record.
• Valid Class B CDL required; U.S. domicile; licensed in state of residence.
• CDL Class A license preferred.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions.
• Independent work, customer service skills, organizational skills, positive attitude required.
• English language proficiency required to comply with federal law.
• Regular, predictable, full attendance essential.
• Regulated by DOT; must maintain driver qualification file, including MVR, DOT physical, safety performance, DOT drug screening within 30 days of start, FMCSA Clearinghouse review.
• Willingness to travel, work required schedule and location, complete Penske employment application, background investigation, drug screening required.

• Must be able to see and hear; vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus.
• Must move frequently, stand, walk, sit; use hands to touch, handle, feel; reach; lift up to 50lb/23kg regularly and up to 100lb/45kg occasionally.
• Must be able to legally operate a motor vehicle and safely enter/exit vehicle and cargo area.
