Job Description
This role operates off-road haul and dump trucks on a large industrial site, safely transporting materials such as dirt, sand, and gravel between designated locations. The driver also operates water trucks to control dust and maintain air quality, performs routine equipment maintenance, and follows all site safety regulations and traffic protocols throughout each shift.
Responsibilities- Operate 40-ton Volvo off-road dump trucks to haul materials safely around the site.
- Drive water trucks to suppress dust and maintain air quality across active work areas.
- Safely load and unload materials such as dirt, sand, and gravel into designated dump locations.
- Perform routine maintenance checks on trucks and equipment, including basic inspections and minor servicing as required.
- Follow all site safety regulations, traffic rules, speed limits, and operational protocols at all times.
- Communicate effectively with site personnel and other subcontractors to coordinate movements and avoid hazards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in and around the equipment.
- Monitor equipment performance and promptly report any mechanical issues or safety concerns to supervision.
- Support general labor tasks related to haul and water truck operations when needed.
- Proven experience operating off-road dump trucks, including articulated dump trucks.
- Experience as a haul truck driver, dump truck driver, or off-road dump truck driver in a construction, quarry, or similar heavy civil environment.
- Ability to safely operate water trucks for dust suppression and air quality control.
- Competence in heavy equipment operation with a strong focus on safety and adherence to site protocols.
- Truck driving experience in high-traffic industrial or construction sites with multiple subcontractors present.
- Ability to perform routine maintenance checks on heavy equipment and identify basic mechanical issues.
- Capability to follow detailed instructions, site rules, and speed limits consistently.
- Physical ability to work long shifts outdoors in heat and varying weather conditions.
- Experience operating rollers and other heavy construction equipment.
- Background in general labor within construction or quarry environments.
- Familiarity with large industrial or power plant sites and their safety expectations.
- Strong situational awareness and communication skills when working around multiple crews and equipment.

Work EnvironmentThe position is based at a large coal-burning power plant site, working primarily outdoors in a heavy industrial environment. Drivers spend most of the day in the truck cab, hauling from basins to dump locations for 10 to 12 hours per shift, often in hot conditions and around active construction and industrial operations. The schedule follows a 4 days on / 4 days off rotation, typically from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with specific workdays changing based on the rotating 4:4 pattern.
The site has strict speed limits and operational protocols, with many other subcontractors and heavy equipment operating simultaneously, requiring constant attention to safety and traffic rules. Personal protective equipment is mandatory, including a hard hat, safety vest, gloves, and safety glasses provided by the client. Employees must supply their own shirts with sleeves, long pants, and lace-up steel-toed boots appropriate for a heavy industrial construction environment.
This is a Contract position based out of Cartersville, GA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
