The Material Handler III – Equipment Operator promotes and maintains warehouse productivity and operational efficiency by safely operating material handling equipment and supporting the movement, storage, and distribution of products throughout the distribution center. This is a hands‑on role that requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities while supporting receiving, inventory control, order fulfillment, and shipping operations.
The Material Handler III works collaboratively with warehouse associates, inventory teams, shipping and receiving personnel, and distribution center leadership to ensure inventory accuracy, on‑time order fulfillment, operational excellence, and customer satisfaction.
- Operate multiple types of powered industrial equipment, including Reach Truck, Order Picker, Stand‑Up Counterbalance Forklift, Electric Pallet Jack, and other material handling equipment.
- Support distribution center operations including receiving, fulfillment, shipping, inventory control, and kitting activities.
- Perform warehouse functions such as picking, packing, labeling, receiving, light assembly, and order processing.
- Load and unload trailers and containers manually as required.
- Utilize handheld RF devices and warehouse management systems to accurately process inventory and orders.
- Maintain warehouse stock levels and assist in inventory accuracy initiatives.
- Follow all company safety procedures and contribute to a clean, organized work environment.
- Support operational demands by working overtime and flexible schedules when business needs require.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Manufacturing, warehouse, or distribution center experience preferred.
- Experience operating material handling equipment in a fast‑paced distribution environment.
- Demonstrated ability to safely and efficiently manage multiple warehouse responsibilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Experience supporting shipping, receiving, inventory, fulfillment, or warehouse operations.
- Ability to work flexible hours and overtime as needed to support business requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to maintain productivity while performing physically demanding work.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong reading comprehension skills for orders, RF devices, shipping documentation, and work instructions.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and operational requirements.
- Commitment to safety, accuracy, and operational excellence.
- Ensures the efficient movement of inventory throughout the distribution center.
- Supports timely and accurate fulfillment of customer orders.
- Contributes to inventory accuracy, operational productivity, and warehouse safety.
- Provides critical equipment operation expertise that enables the distribution team to meet business demands.
- Helps maintain service levels during peak periods and supports overall supply chain performance.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Forklift certification required, including Reach Truck and Order Picker certification at minimum.
- Knowledge of distribution center operations and warehouse processes preferred.
Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds. - Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (8+ hours) with limited breaks.
- Ability to balance, stoop, crouch, kneel, and reach throughout the workday.
- Distribution center environment with exposure to warehouse noise and dust.
- Operation of powered industrial equipment and material handling machinery.
- Frequent standing, walking, lifting, bending, and manual material handling.
- Exposure to seasonal temperature variations, including hot summer and cold winter conditions.
