Criminology Instructor (Part‑Time Faculty Pool)
We value diversity and are seeking an equity‑minded leader committed to student success. The instructor will provide instruction in Criminology on campus and/or at off‑site community campus locations.
Essential Functions of Position- Teach part‑time Criminology courses using a variety of pedagogies and technologies for face‑to‑face, online, and hybrid formats.
- Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
- Use approved curriculum outlines and evaluate student progress through tests, assignments, and examinations.
- Provide course syllabi, maintain classroom records, and submit grading and evaluation reports timely.
- Teach in various instructional settings and times as needed.
- Fulfill all duties and responsibilities of instructors as required by Administrative Regulation 7122.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of diverse student backgrounds related to equity‑minded practice.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher and two years of directly related professional experience; or
- Associate degree and six years of directly related professional experience; or
- A valid California Community College Credential; or
- The equivalent education and/or experience (requires equivalency).
- Experience incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion into all areas of responsibility.
- Recent experience working with underrepresented student populations and an understanding of historical exclusion.
- Willingness to examine and remediate instructional practices for increased engagement.
- Professional experience related to the discipline.
- Experience working with students of varied cultural, gender, age, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds, including students with disabilities.
- Experience with under‑prepared and high‑need students at a community college.
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff to enhance instruction and student success.
- Proficiency with computers and technology used for instruction.
- Effective communication with students and staff.
- Knowledge of current assessment methods and materials.
- Understanding of the community college mission and goals.
- Newly hired part‑time faculty placed on step one (1) of the salary schedule.
- Salary classification based on education and experience.
- Sick leave accrual based on assignment hours.
