Criminology Instructor (Part‑Time Faculty Pool)

We value diversity and are seeking an equity‑minded leader committed to student success. The instructor will provide instruction in Criminology on campus and/or at off‑site community campus locations.

• Teach part‑time Criminology courses using a variety of pedagogies and technologies for face‑to‑face, online, and hybrid formats.
• Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
• Use approved curriculum outlines and evaluate student progress through tests, assignments, and examinations.
• Provide course syllabi, maintain classroom records, and submit grading and evaluation reports timely.
• Teach in various instructional settings and times as needed.
• Fulfill all duties and responsibilities of instructors as required by Administrative Regulation 7122.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of diverse student backgrounds related to equity‑minded practice.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher and two years of directly related professional experience; or
• Associate degree and six years of directly related professional experience; or
• A valid California Community College Credential; or
• The equivalent education and/or experience (requires equivalency).

• Experience incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion into all areas of responsibility.
• Recent experience working with underrepresented student populations and an understanding of historical exclusion.
• Willingness to examine and remediate instructional practices for increased engagement.
• Professional experience related to the discipline.
• Experience working with students of varied cultural, gender, age, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds, including students with disabilities.
• Experience with under‑prepared and high‑need students at a community college.
• Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff to enhance instruction and student success.
• Proficiency with computers and technology used for instruction.
• Effective communication with students and staff.
• Knowledge of current assessment methods and materials.
• Understanding of the community college mission and goals.

• Newly hired part‑time faculty placed on step one (1) of the salary schedule.
• Salary classification based on education and experience.
• Sick leave accrual based on assignment hours.
