Overall Responsibilities:
Provide instruction using principles of human development and appropriate learning strategies to enable students to make academic, vocational, and/or personal growth.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Provide instruction in grade/subject assigned.
- Prepare materials needed to assist students.
- Implement policies, procedures, and mandates as required.
- Prepare and submit requested reports and plans in an accurate and timely manner.
- Participate in professional development.
- Participate in school, District, and department activities and meetings.
- Work with other staff including administration, counseling, clerical, and other teachers.
- Provide instruction and compliance activities in accordance with state and federal law, District policies and procedures, and site needs.
- Work with parents and community members to provide for the instructional needs of individuals in the assigned class.
- Foster positive relationships between students, staff, and community members.
- Supervise students to assure their safety.
- Monitor student achievement and adjust instructions in response to student data.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Specific knowledge of:
- Content of instructional assignment.
- Principles of learning, instruction, and assessment appropriate to assignment.
Specific Ability to:
- Assist in array of learners in developing age appropriate knowledge and skills.
- Maintain patience when confronted with challenges and stressful situations.
- Contribute to the successful fulfillment of the District Mission.
- Work cooperatively with others to make plans and decisions and to implement programs and activities.
- Conduct responsibilities of the position based on information and instructions provided in English.
- Learn and appropriately apply District policies and procedures and other regulations related to the position.
- Apply strategies appropriate to the age level of the assigned students.
- Maintain appropriate confidentiality about the status of students, classroom, and school activities.
- Gather and analyze data to determine student's abilities and instructional needs.
- Operate calculator, computer, and data entry terminal.
- Learn and apply current technology to assigned duties.
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent.
- Graduate level course work in education.
Experience:
- Completion of student teaching.
License:
- Valid California Teaching Credential for age/subject assigned.
