* PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES The Associate and Senior Civil Engineer classifications are registered Civil Engineers and perform complex professional engineering assign-ments requiring considerable knowledge of various aspects of civil engi-neering, including land development, planning, design standards and reg-ulations, and construction and maintenance. Considerable independent judgment and discretion are required in the application of the principles and practices of planning, design, construction and the administration of a variety of projects to include but not limited to public works (streets, water, sewer and storm drain systems), City parks, building projects, and airport projects.

QUALIFICATIONS Associate Civil Engineer: 3 years if increasingly responsible Civil Engi-neering experience, a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, and must be a Registered Civil Engineer with the State of California. Must possess a valid Class C driver’s license.

Senior Civil Engineer: 4 years of increasingly responsible Civil Engi-neering experience, including 2 years as a project manager, and a Bache-lor’s degree in Civil Engineering and must be a Registered Civil Engineer with the State of California.

EXAMINATION PROCESSOnly those applicants who meet the qualification standards of this position by the application filing deadline will be allowed to participate in the exam-ination process. Examination scores determine standing on Civil Service eligibility lists. The City Manager, upon recommendation of the depart-ment head, will make the final selection and appointment from the estab-lished eligibility list.
