This is a limited term position located at Valley State Prison (VSP) in Chowchilla, Madera County. This is a working description of the role and duties for the Clinical Social Worker (Health/CF) Safety within the facility.

Under the general direction of the Senior Psychologist, Correctional Facility (CF) (Supervisor) or the Supervising Psychiatric Social Worker, CF, the Clinical Social Worker (Health/CF) Safety conducts assessments and summarizes case information to inform diagnosis, level of care, and dispositional release; diagnoses and/or collaborates in the formulation of a diagnosis; develops, monitors, and modifies treatment plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary treatment team.

Provides assessments, group therapy, and collateral conferences, and documents and evaluates patients’ progress in treatment. Coordinates placement with community resources and the Classification and Parole Representative. This position may require involvement with the California Model to transform correctional work environments and re-entry efforts.

Effective July 1, 2025, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) impact on salary is noted in accordance with the applicable Memorandum of Understanding. Salaries reflect these changes where applicable. This is a limited term position which may be extended or become permanent. Applications are reviewed on a periodic schedule listed in the posting.

Additional pay benefits may include:

• HAM authorization rates for the classification (P $8,678 - Q $9,319).
• Recruitment and Retention Bonus for clinicians newly hired with CCHCS. A potential $10,000 one-time recruitment and retention stipend, with additional monthly differential in the first year if eligible.
• Possible $5,000 referral bonus if the referring employee’s information is completed in pre-employment materials and the hire remains employed for 90 days.
