Effective July 1, 2025, in accordance with the applicable Memorandum of Understanding, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) was implemented. PLP 2025 requires each full-time employee in Bargaining Unit 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 17, 18, 19, 20, and 21, and related Excluded, Exempt and Statutory Exempt employees, will have their base salary reduced by 3 percent and will receive 5 PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 2027.
Salaries do not reflect the recent changes. Part-time employees are subject to the same conditions as full-time employees, on a prorated basis equivalent to their time-base. Permanent intermittent employees are subject to the same condition as full-time employees, based on the number of hours worked in the pay period.
Under the direction of the Chief Nurse Executive (CNE), the Supervising Registered Nurse (SRN) III, Correctional Facility (CF) oversees the daily operations of a correctional facility nursing services program. The SRN III, CF is responsible for planning, assigning, supervising, and evaluating the work of subordinate supervisors, nurses, and other assigned staff. The SRN III, CF receives, disseminates, and implements policies and procedures, applies supervisory rules and principles, assists in the resolution of labor relations issues, sets goals for self and others, and ensures the continuity of quality patient care.
The SRN III, CF ensures the implementation of an effective training and competency validation program for nursing services. Actively participates and supports the Complete Care Model.
All Levels:
- Possession of a current license as a registered nurse in California. (Applicants who do not meet this requirement will be admitted to the examination, but they must secure the required license before they will be considered eligible for appointment.)
- Either I — One year of experience in the California state service performing the duties of a Supervising Registered Nurse II, Correctional Facility.
- Or II — Three years of experience in the California state service performing the duties of a Supervising Registered Nurse I, Correctional Facility.
- Or III — Four years of registered nursing experience (within the last ten years) in a licensed general acute care hospital, two years of which must have been in an administrative or supervisory capacity. Possession of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing or a Master's Degree in Nursing may be substituted for one year of general acute care hospital experience.
Candidates who are within six months of completing the experience requirements will be admitted to the examination, but they must complete all requirements before they will be considered eligible for appointment.
