Job Summary
Under general supervision or direction, designs, implements, and maintains the County’s IT systems; configures and troubleshoots system performance; and performs related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISEDReceives general supervision from the IT Manager. Exercises no direct supervision over staff. The job functions listed below are not inclusive or exclusive and are intended only as illustrations or examples of the various types of work that may be performed in various divisions/departments. Types of work performed shall be within the scope and licensure (if required) for the classification. Some duties, knowledge and abilities may be performed in a learning capacity by positions at the entry (I) level.
- Provides support for service requests from users, ensuring prompt and effective resolution; oversees service requests and offers assistance to the County's departments as needed.
- Deploys, configures, and updates applications using scripting, deployment tools, and best practices; administers applications, troubleshoots related issues and applications, integrates applications, and manages functions.
- Creates and maintains software packages for county-wide deployment of new applications.
- Analyzes software and hardware issues and conflicts; investigates and troubleshoots complex issues by analyzing logs and identifying root causes.
- Manages phone and electronic device distribution and works with vendors to troubleshoot phone system issues.
- Analyzes user requirements, system performance data, and user feedback to identify areas for improvement and optimization.
- Assists in the development and delivery of technical training materials and resources to end-users, ensuring they can effectively utilize technology solutions.
- Creates and maintains documentation for technical processes, procedures, and troubleshooting guides to aid end-users and colleagues.
- Collaborates with cross‑functional teams on IT projects, such as system upgrades, migrations, and deployments, to achieve project goals.
- Liaises with technology vendors to troubleshoot issues, obtain technical support, and stay informed about product updates and improvements.
- Performs related duties as required.
- Troubleshooting methodologies, including systematic problem‑solving, root cause analysis, and the ability to efficiently diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
- A wide range of software applications commonly used in business environments, including office productivity suites, collaboration tools, and industry‑specific software.
- Data security principles, including access controls, authentication methods, data encryption, and best practices to safeguard sensitive information.
- Computer hardware components, including CPUs, memory, storage devices, and peripherals, along with the ability to diagnose and replace hardware components when necessary.
- Principles and practices of developing and maintaining technical documentation, files, and records.
- Applicable federal, state, and local laws, codes, and ordinances relevant to the area of responsibility.
- Techniques for providing a high level of customer service by effectively dealing with the public, vendors, contractors, and County staff.
- The structure and content of the English language to effectively perform the work.
- Modern equipment and communication tools used for business functions and program, project, and task coordination, including computers and software programs relevant to work performed.
- Analyze complex technical issues and provide effective solutions for County related information systems.
- Diagnose system and network problems.
- Adapt to changing priorities and the willingness to learn new technologies and methodologies.
- Anticipate issues, identify opportunities for improvement, and take proactive actions to resolve application and technology system related issues.
