Diabetic Educator Registered Nurse

As a Diabetic Educator-RN, I served as a clinician, educator, and consultant supporting pediatric patients with diabetes and their families. I assessed individual learning needs and provided developmentally and culturally appropriate diabetes education to promote patient and family understanding, confidence, and self-management.

• Assessed patients’ and families’ educational needs and developed individualized, age-appropriate, culturally responsive education plans.
• Provided diabetes education and ongoing support to patients and families to promote effective disease management and healthy outcomes.
• Collaborated with physicians, nurses, educators, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement family-centered, outcome-based plans of care.
• Served as a clinical resource and consultant for diabetes-related care and education.
• Documented patient assessments, education, interventions, and outcomes in accordance with organizational standards.
• Supported patients and families in developing the knowledge and skills needed to safely manage diabetes.
• Practiced in accordance with the California Nursing Practice Act and Valley Children’s Healthcare policies and standards.
• Communicated effectively with diverse patient populations and families; bilingual skills were preferred.

• Registered Nurse (RN) licensed by the California Board of Registered Nursing.
• Associate Degree in Nursing required;
  Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
• Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) certification preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of related nursing experience; 2+ years preferred.
