Sales Development Program Sales Associate

Join United Rentals as a Sales Associate on our General Rentals team. You will complete a structured training program designed to prepare you for a future role as an Outside Sales Representative. Throughout the program you will learn technical products, sales techniques, and relationship‑building skills while working alongside industry experts.

• Begin your training at a local branch, shadowing sales and operations to gain an inside‑out understanding of the equipment‑rental lifecycle.
• Complete a digital onboarding class with peers across North America to sharpen sales technique and build an internal support network.
• Participate in outbound sales campaigns exposing you to construction verticals, customer segments, and both general and specialty equipment rentals.
• Master United Rentals sales tools, including our CRM, inventory platforms, customer portal, and mobile applications.
• Lead high‑level sales conversations involving price negotiations, multi‑piece rental requests, government and educational agreements, equipment service contracts, and used‑equipment sales.
• Apply proven sales methodologies to deliver solutions and drive revenue growth.
• Engage in local team initiatives such as safety huddles, customer appreciation events, yard sales, entertainment outings, charity drives, and internal workshops.
• Track your Sales Development progress through performance metrics and weekly peer‑ranked competitions.
• Receive daily feedback through corporate and local leadership meetings, coaching sessions, and ride‑alongs to job sites.
• Complete the Sales Development Program (4–6 months) before promotion to Outside Sales Representative, subject to market conditions and individual performance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• Customer‑facing sales experience (preferred).
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
• Proficient computer, mobile phone, and tablet usage.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
• Training: you must live within a reasonable driving distance of the assigned branch and report on‑site Monday–Friday.

$30.45 – $43.85 per hour.
