Position: PLUMBER II (CORRECTIONAL FACILITY)

Job Title

Plumber II (Correctional Facility)

Job Summary

Permanent, full‑time position located at Valley State Prison, Chowchilla, Madera County, California. Salary range: $6,291.00 – $7,547.00 per month.

Work schedule:

Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM. Alternate work schedule may be available. Telework:
In office only.

Responsibilities

Perform plumbing work in the correctional facility in accordance with state safety orders, building codes, and security protocols. Refer to the duty statement for detailed duties.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Must hold a PLUMBER II (Correctional Facility) examination and be a current state employee with lateral transfer or reinstatement eligibility.
Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge of principles, methods, materials, tools and equipment used in plumbing.
  • Knowledge of Safety Orders of the Division of Industrial Safety applicable to plumbing.
  • Knowledge of building codes.
  • Positive attendance and punctuality.
  • Good judgment and ability to interpret plans, blueprints and specifications.
  • Ability to perform plumbing work, care for tools, prepare rough sketches, estimate costs, and prepare accurate records.
  • Ability to instruct, direct, and coordinate the work of a small crew.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Read and write English at a level required for successful job performance.
