Role Description The Registered Dental Assistant role is a full-time, on-site position located in Madison Heights, MI. This role supports pediatric and special needs dental and oral surgery procedures performed under general anesthesia, working closely with dentists, oral surgeons, and clinical staff. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing treatment rooms, organizing and maintaining dental instruments and materials, assisting during procedures, and supporting patient flow before and after treatment.

The Registered Dental Assistant helps maintain a safe, clean, and compliant clinical environment, including following strict sterilization and infection control protocols. The role also involves documenting treatment information, providing clear pre- and post-operative instructions under clinician guidance, and communicating calmly and professionally with patients, families, and caregivers.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess skills in Dental Assisting, Dental Care, and Dentistry to support pediatric restorative and surgical procedures.
  • Candidates should possess skills in Oral Care and patient education to help promote positive oral health practices for children and special needs patients.
  • Candidates should possess skills in Sterilization and infection control to ensure a safe and compliant clinical environment.
  • Current registration or certification as a Dental Assistant in the state of Michigan (or eligibility to obtain), with CPR/BLS certification.
  • Experience in pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, or working with special needs populations is preferred.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and time-management skills, with the ability to support a fast-paced surgical schedule.
  • Attention to detail in charting and documentation, and comfort using electronic health record systems.
  • Commitment to patient safety, cultural sensitivity, and high standards of professional conduct.
