Qualifications:
Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with Special Education endorsement Additional training and expertise with Autism Spectrum Disorder preferred Demonstrated familiarity with development and use of accommodations, instructional strategies, and assessment procedures for students with disabilities Willingness to be trained in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention techniques Proficiency in Google Suite applications (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, etc.) and online sourcing tools with functional knowledge of internet use for search platforms Ability to withstand the strain of teaching Must demonstrate reliability and punctuality, with a strong record of consistent attendance.
Regular and dependable presence during school hours is essential Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the administration may find appropriate and acceptable
Responsibilities:
Provides effective individualized instruction to address the academic, social, and physical needs of elementary-level students with disabilities Facilitate student progress toward meeting the Grade Level Standards Maintain regular, positive communication with parents, administration, ancillary staff and general education staff regarding caseload students Provide service and maintain records, including Medicaid billing, according to compliance standards established for the district, state, and federal rules, regulations, and procedures Provide necessary support, communication, direction, and feedback to assigned paraprofessional staff Work cooperatively with administration, multidisciplinary team, general and special education colleagues, families, and agencies to provide academic and positive behavior support for assigned students Provide assessment, instruction and maintain records to meet quality and compliance standards established for district, state, and federal rules, regulation,s and procedures Conduct IEPs, ensure accommodations are complied with, and MET and IEP timelines are attained Help develop and implement Behavior Intervention Plans Ensure student safety and safety of others by implementing approved Positive Behavior Support methods and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention strategies when dealing with inappropriate behaviors Such alternatives to the above responsibilities as the administration may find appropriate and acceptable
