Responsibilities- Plan, prepare, and deliver quality classroom instruction in lecture, clinical, and laboratory formats based on the approved course outline, using a variety of approved materials and teaching methods to address all learning modalities.
- Assess student learning using appropriate methods and demonstrate effectiveness with strong outcomes in student retention, success, and attendance.
- Conduct engaging classroom lectures and/or labs, motivating students through sensitivity to concerns and active involvement in discussions and activities.
- Advise students on attendance, grades, and issues to ensure successful course completion, contacting absentee students by text, email, or phone as needed to improve retention.
- Manage the classroom environment through compliance with campus policies, including classroom management, attendance, punctuality, and professionalism.
- Ensure instructor preparedness before class by listing instructor name, contact information, date, class name, day’s objectives, and next session objectives on the whiteboard.
- Monitor and prepare supplies and equipment to ensure readiness before class, notifying appropriate campus personnel of any areas requiring attention.
- Participate in faculty, staff, committee, and in‑service meetings.
- Demonstrate professional growth in the subject area through membership in educational associations, professional organizations, continued education, relevant business experience, educational research, and awareness of current practices and standards.
- Actively support other departments and ensure all educational activities are conducted legally and ethically, contributing to continuous improvement within the Faculty Development Program or other identified criteria.
- Excellent written and oral communication and analytical skills.
- Ability to work well independently and within a team environment.
- Thorough knowledge of the EMS system in its entirety.
- Competent teaching abilities to facilitate effective learning.
- Maintenance of Michigan EMS Instructor and Coordinator licensure as applicable.
- MDHHS Licensed EMS.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Extensive medical educational experience within a classroom setting and/or hands‑on experience in the respective field.
- Prior teaching experience preferred.
Employees are regularly required to see, talk, and hear. Tasks include standing, walking, sitting for extended periods, and using finger, arm, and hand dexterity to operate phone, computer keyboard, and other office equipment. Lifting materials and equipment over 50 pounds may be required.
