Vehicle Controls & Brake Controls Engineer
FEV is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Vehicle Controls & Brake Controls Engineer to join our innovative team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of advanced control systems for a range of vehicles, including conventional, hybrid, and electric models. The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, integrating, and validating control functions that enhance vehicle performance, safety, and drivability.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and optimize control strategies for vehicle-level control functions and brake control systems.
- Define system and functional requirements in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Integrate vehicle features at the system level, ensuring seamless operation and compliance with safety standards.
- Calibrate and validate control algorithms through simulation, prototype testing, and vehicle testing.
- Work on both prototype and production-intent solutions to meet project specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate closely with software, hardware, and validation teams to ensure robust system performance.
- Support troubleshooting and continuous improvement of control systems throughout the development lifecycle.
Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship or Green Card is required
- Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Control Systems, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in Vehicle Controls, Brake Controls, Chassis Controls, or related automotive control systems
- Proven experience in vehicle control system development, particularly in brake control and vehicle dynamics.
- Strong understanding of control algorithms, system modeling, and calibration techniques.
- Familiarity with automotive communication protocols and software development tools.
- Experience with prototype testing, validation, and verification processes.
- Ability to develop system-level and functional-level requirements for vehicle and brake control functions
- MATLAB/Simulink, C/C++
- Experience with MiL, HiL, and vehicle-level validation activities
- Strong understanding of vehicle electrical and electronic architectures
- Real-time control design methods and optimization techniques
- Ability to analyze and interpret vehicle and brake system test data
- Experience in rapid control prototyping using dSPACE, ETAS, or similar platforms
- Knowledge of vehicle-level functions such as drivability, traction control, launch control, cruise control, hill-hold, and brake blending
Preferred Qualifications:
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Knowledge of safety standards and regulatory requirements related to vehicle control systems.
- Experience with brake-by-wire, regenerative braking, ABS, ESC, or vehicle stability control systems
- Experience with vehicle testing, calibration, and control algorithm validation
- Candidates with master's degree
- Knowledge of Functional Safety (ISO 26262), ASPICE, and Automotive Cybersecurity
- Familiarity with AUTOSAR, MAAB guidelines, MISRA standards, Functional Safety (ISO 26262), and Systems Engineering processes
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills
Understanding of the following tools used in automotive applications:
- Vector CANape, CANalyzer, CANoe
- dSPACE Control Desk, Automation Desk
- ETAS INCA, ATI Vision
- Jira, Polarion, DOORS
- Microsoft Office
